I've wanted to go and explore here for a while and I'm glad I've finally got there. Great work done by the preservation team for the existing building and the plans for the future.

Lots of engineering history and fascinating to see the progress through history for this area, how Arkwright changed the way of production and how it affected his industry around the country.

Heartily recommend the guided tour and our guide was fantastically knowledgeable about everything we asked her about.

Enjoyable place to be. Nice food. Good coffee. Lovely walks along the canal. Everywhere well mapped out and signposted.

We arrived and found the parking was ample and noticed there was also an overnight stay option which would be good in the campervan on our next visit, we visited the cafe and they made the most incredible cheese and ham toasty and we washed it down with a coffee, staff are friendly and we found the tourist information centre well stocked and helpful.
They have a few little shops on site which have antiques and curiosities which are owned by a consortium and very reasonably priced too.
There are tours available which explains the history and and how Arkwright founded the Mills and became a major employer in the area.

A few shops - the cheese shop is recommended - plus guided tours of the mill buildings. Entry is free, though tours and parking are charged for.
There’s construction work going on at the moment to bring water-power back to the mills.
Gift shop, cafe plus antique and bric-à-brac.
Don’t miss out the Wharf - the cafe there is excellent with outdoor seating next to the canal.

It was a horrible day weather wise and we had family visiting.

So we took everyone to Cromford Mills which is ideal for a rainy day.

The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Allan is a treasure trove of information.

A brilliant experience where you can easily imagine the life of a worker there.

Strongly recommended. In good weather you could pop for a cuppa and a bite at the cafe across the road, or bring some bread and treat your self to some of the beautiful cheese and pickles or chutneys sold there.

Can be half a day or a full day. Most certainly one of the best attractions in the area.

Lovely accessible walk along the Cromford Canal. We were very glad of this as we have a very old dog. Went into Cromford Mills after and particularly enjoyed the Cromford Cheese shop. We bought lots of cheese all of which was delicious. Highly recommended.

We took the guided tour, which gave a good overview of Arkwright, his inventions and factories, the water mill, how cotton was spun, and the impact of these on the UK and world.

There were good visuals - such as a video of an actor playing Arkwright, seeing the real waterwheel photo next to the location as it stands today, and how cotton is made/spun.

We did prebook the tour, but not sure that's needed. You can also do the additional audio tour after the guided tour, though we had limited time so skipped this part.

On site is also a cafe and some shops, with the town nearby.

Delightful place to visit even on a wet winters day. Plenty to see together with on site cafe and toilets. I'm sure that the numerous events throughout the year provide a contiually changing experience.
