We had an incredible week-long break at Lower Hilton Cottage.

The interior is cosy, modern and beautifully designed. There is a fully equipped kitchen, super comfy sofas inside a large living room with a wood-burner, and the three bedrooms will sleep six adults or children. Broadband internet is quick for the area and phone signal on some networks is very good. This means you can getaway to the wilds of Scotland, but still maintain contact with the world if you wish.

Everything you could possibly need was available. The hosts were extremely helpful, with plenty of guidance provided before we arrived and whenever needed throughout our stay.

There is plenty of hiking and cycling in the surrounding area. There are lochs, wild woods, sprawling coastal vista and even an area to watch wild salmon leap up a waterfall, if you are there at the right time of year. This is truly one of the wildest and most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom.

Dornoch and other pretty towns are nearby. And you are close to some excellent whiskey distilleries which you can tour and sample the goods too!

It’s ideal as a romantic getaway, place for a group of friends for a long weekend, or a family break away from daily life. We will be back!

Fabulous rural cottage with lovely Scandi-style interior decor. Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle.
