"Largs" derives from the gaelic word "learg" which interprets as "slope of grass" and that indeed is the setting for this wonderful old cemetery. With views of the lovely Firth of Clyde and distant Isle of Great Cumbrae, ones respectful visit to this scenic place of final rest is beautifully enhanced. Opened in1860 and extended in 1952, its rows of nicely maintained graves midst trees, shrub plants and trimmed hedges presents a gardenesque feast to the eyes with a complimentary peaceful ambiance.

I have relatives who stay here. Nice spot up the hill from town, on the approach to Haylie Brae. There is a plan of the cemetery at the gate lodge and the site seems to be well maintained.
