Stayed here the night before catching a flight out of Southampton. Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed due to lack of staff, but there is a good place near by for diner. Would have preferred if they warned me in advance though. Missed breakfast because they only started that at 8.30. Room nice and quiet. Given those circumstances, £110 per night was a bit steep.

Shame as we have eaten here twice before and had super roasts. Today was not good. My husband had a steak pie & fries that was ok hence 2 stars I chose The Crook curry with chicken at extra cost. What arrived looked fine but was at best tepid, watery liquid with very little flavour or content Nan bread was dry cardboard, rice was fine. Even though hungry I ate only a small amount. I told the waitress and asked her to remove it from our bill. Upshot of that was a very rude women, manageress or owner telling me I should have returned the meal uneaten and should note this for the future. I pointed out that I had only eaten very little of it. She then had the nerve to suggest I went home and made something myself!! Note this for the future - you don’t have one for us.

My husband and I popped in one weekday for lunch, we hadn't booked, but were given a table. The food and service we were given was very good. Would certainly recommend this venue.

Had an amazing Sunday lunch here with 4 generations of our family, we went with buggy and wheelchair and we were made so welcome.
Food five stars

We received a very warm welcome , the room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. Woke this morning to a herd of deer just outside the window. The food was very well presented and super tasty and the barman/waiter had an excellent manner and was friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The lady owner was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely recommend this as a lovely place to stay .

Can't comment on their new accommodation as only popped in for a light lunch.
What an improvement! The pub has been tastefully refurbished and it's now really nice, bright and airy with friendly staff. We both had a baguette which was very good. We had a look at their main menu - for future reference - and will be booking an evening meal here in the not too distant future. Would certainly recommend.

Waking up to this view, amazing, peaceful &quiet in another hidden gem. Lovely room that was clean &suited our needs. Staff were very efficient, friendly &welcoming. Food was the best meal we have had, everything was fresh &clean, modern interior kept clean &tidy. Reasonably priced food & drinks, (sure cheaper than where we live) would highly recommend for people looking to escape the hectic city /town life. Definitely going again. Thankyou to to the #Dog & Crook
