Amazing place! Quite a lot of this former RAF and USAAF WW2 fighter airfield remains intact, including a hangar, and the museum is housed in one of the original buildings. The fact that this place is still an active airfield and at the same time still a farm, must surely make it unique among such museum sites.

Entry fee is a discretionary donation toward the museum's upkeep. They have open days, rather than regular opening hours so it is best to check the Fowlmere Airfield Museum website before you decide to visit, but this is an absolute gem of a place and visit it you should!

Whilst you are there, you should check out the pub that all the pilots used to frequent; THE CHEQUERS. (Reviewed seperately). As you leave the airfield, turn left at the end of that road and the pub is on your left just a very short distance away.

3 great guys running the museum who are passionate about it and very knowledgeable. We had a tour explaining all the exhibits which I would recommend to get the full understanding of the place. The museum is small but packed with artefacts of local finds. Open 1 Sunday a month.
