Forter Castle gave me my dream wedding in the Scottish Highlands. Nestled among hilly farms and a rocky mountain, the castle has been renovated with luxurious creature comforts while staying ancient and magical in feel. Hundreds of years old furnishings, art and history surround you and there is something new to discover around every bend. The winding castle staircases transport you in time and the fire place in the Great Hall brings everyone together. The owners are very nice and excellent with communication about the property. They and all the vendors that work with them went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was beautiful and everything we wanted. We fell in love with Forter and plan to return as much as possible.

Very interesting place to stay in glorious country side. For walkers and people who like to hide away. Pub 4 miles away. 45 mins to Pitlochry. Be prepared for step stone spiral staircase and huge open fire!! ????

Simply gorgeous. More of a fortified tower than a castle in terms of real world scale. Beautiful location with the Glen rising around it. Quirky vintage interiors, stone spiral staircase. Very nicely appointed with a lived in, homely feel.

We got married at Forter Castle in October 2012 and returned to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. To say the Castle is just as beautiful as we remember was a complete understatement. It was even more spectacular, as we now had time to sit, enjoy, and reflect on the love felt all around this building instilled by the Pooley family. We have no words for the love we have for this place. Every single thing you could imagine had been catered for! We would also like to thank Marlyn who was so gracious as to allow myself and my friend to ride her beautiful fell ponies. Thank you all!

A fairy tale setting, a unique property and wonderful owners / custodians who've transformed this citadel not only into their own Scottish home but a unique rental proposition that affords the best of Scotland on its doorstep. A must!!!!

Your castle was so wonderful!
We stayed in Robert's room at the top of the stairs and enjoyed every moment.
The location is perfect and we enjoyed going for walks daily in all directions.

Forters team was helpful and accommodating. The castle location and condition were outstanding. Our entire group was impressed and had a wonderful time. Make sure to ask Dan and team for catering and entertainment recommendations. They have an excellent network of people who will turn a good stay into magic.
