Awesome piece of engineering, sadly the cafe was closed when we got there. Maybe it’s seasonal but I was gutted haha

A fab short circular walk from the Dam carpark, past the Salmon Ladder, down the river and returning via the green suspension bridge. Salmon breaching fully, fly fishing and wildlife. Perfect spot for a wonderful picnic.

Salmon ladder part of Pitlochry HEP system. Fascinating - all explained in adjacent new visitor centre. In centre of superb network of walks.

Visited late but still had a great walk and spectacular views, planning another visit.

A bit disappointing, because there were no salmon going up the ladder. Note to self: time next visit around salmon season.

If you have a spare half hour this is a nice walk with the added interest of the hydro power station and the fish ladder
