The crown achievement! North of the White Tower is one of the UK's best-guarded buildings, the Waterloo Block (a.k.a. Waterloo Barracks). After the Grand Storehouse was lost in the fire of 1841, the Waterloo Block was built in its place. These castellated Gothic Revival style barracks with Domestic Tudor details first housed over 1000 soldiers who were stationed in the castle, but since 1967 the British Crown Jewels have been kept and displayed here. Almost all visitors want to marvel at royal regalia, so it can get crowded!
