I am a new student for the academic year 2020-2021.
I came from Gems Winchester School in Abu Dhabi, in which the only positive aspects were activities, MOE subjects, and math. The rest was a disaster; I didn't learn anything but how to develop leadership activities.
When I first arrived at this school, my English improved dramatically in terms of learning, interpretation, and vocabulary, and teachers provided me with extra writing tasks such as writing reports and emails. Parents expect to spend a lot of money just to hear their children talk with American accents; they forget that we live in a multicultural country and that we adapt to the people around us. I'm from Palestine, and I speak Russian, South African, Armenian, Lebanese, British, Jordanian, American, French and Egyptian. We are not compelled to speak American, but we do so because we want to imitate the teachers we admire, and most importantly, the exams are simple and motivating. If you are absent for 5 minutes, the schools immediately reach out to parents and make sure everything is alright.
In maths, I was invited to participate in "Mathletics," a competition for World Math Day sponsored by UNICEF, and it was a lot of fun, thanks to the Head of Maths Department. (Not only me and some students from grade 8.)
I'm referring to the Triple Sciences, which include physics, biology, and chemistry.
I'm in Grade 9, so we have Triple Science. Science used to bore me before I started here. We have real-world applications every week and every term interesting projects like filtration systems. It's on the school's Instagram account, @futureleaderspb2.
The final point, which is my absolute favorite, is improving our morale. There is still a second opportunity to change, and it is never too late in this classroom, in addition to the student-teacher relationship. When I needed assistance in Biology Final Term 2, I texted the instructor, who called me at 10 p.m. and explained it to me as if it were a regular class. Hahaha I once called the Chemistry instructor at 1 a.m., she answered, and we told her about our confusion, and she explained everything to us until 2:30 a.m. like it was nothing. Students and teachers have such a close bond that we can reach out to them at any moment, including our Head of Grade and social worker.
I hope the schools remain as they are for the forever and that I will enjoy my happiest memories here.
If you don't believe everything I've said so far.
@amoor.jk is my Instagram handle. Even if you are a new student or parent, I will tell you everything you need to know about the school.
Contact me at any time. This school is like a hidden treasure; if you search far enough, you'll find everything.
