Currently the inner lock gate is under deep maintenance, meaning that the lock is dry and access on the Hotel side is shut off. Many craft of various sizes are trapped in the basin but businesses are open as usual. Worth a gentle troll round for peace and quiet. Covered walkways outside the refurbished warehouses provide good cover from the rain.

Great location close to the Tower and Tower Bridge.
Lovely for walks and to grab a snack or dinner in one of the many locations around.
Especially during a sunny day perfect for a visit.
From there I would advise follow the Thames Path East for some more great views.
And with a bit of luck you should be able to find the Queens barge somewhere around the dock.

The Lock connects the St Katherine’s docks with the river Thames. It is very interesting to see the lock in use when a boat enters/leaves the marina.
