The plaque on the stone states:-
"This stone near to where it was excavated in June 1964 by J.M.Lewis.
It covered a cremation burial of the New Bronze Age of around 2000 BC".
It was moved to its current position because of the redevelopment of the site.
As do many of these Menhir's or standing stones this one has a legend attached to it. It is said to sneak down to the water on Christmas morning at cockcrow for a drink.
Access is free and there is lots of parking in the centre.
