A fantastic, authentic mid-1800s working train station. We stopped there to take a break from the Sun whilst hiking the beautiful forest trails surrounding.

Kms of great hiking on Cleveland Way, that is the name of the path to connect small cities around the sea side throw this beautiful path to overlooking the North Sea from the cliffs. I did from Robin Hood Bay to Whitby and Steithes to Runswick Bay. Just be in heaven for hikers!

It's a great experience of Steam transport. Plenty of Steam engines and classic rolling stock to satisfy anyone. There are some classic Deisel engines too. Plenty of stops on the line and plenty of places to eat too.

What a wonderfully restored station! An absolute gem! If you're in the area this is a must of a visit!

Beautiful Station on the much loved North Yorkshire Moors Railway and is a credit to those that look after it. There is a car park with quite a good number of spaces and is an ideal place to start off on multiple walks in the area or hop on the train to Whitby, Pickering, Goathland or Grosmont.
Worth noting if you're not familiar with the area, Levisham village is quite a walk from the station up a long fairly steep hill BUT if you brave the walk, the first building you come to is conveniently the Village Pub!

Lovely 5 3/4-mile walk around Newton Dale and Levisham, stopping for a mug of tea and a teacake with butter and jam at Levisham Station. Saw the diesel train and the steam train whilst on the walk. (4 stars because the mugs were a little on the small side.

These guy's are up against it with the location and length and gradients. It's a long day out and you need to plan your day around the time table too.
Steam trains do run on a regular basis but we traveled on a bronze timetable and were diesel hauled by 37264 which could really do with a repaint but we did manage to wait longer at Gromont and get steam back to Pickering.
That gave us time to look around the workshop and sheds and have a really good ice-cream!!!
Both station shops were well stocked and the workshop gallery shop has some fantastic stuff too.
Overall to enjoy this railway work it into a weekend or week long stay in the area.

Wonderful well kept and looked after station a little remote but well worth the visit. It is like going back in time and magical , enjoyable for steam enthusiasts and anyone who loves looking back in time .Nice carpark and great volunteer staff that will always find time to have a chat , please visit you won't be sorry .
