A lovely little museum with lots to see and plenty of photo opportunities. We particularly loved the Victorian Street. The grounds provide plenty of space to explore and have a picnic. There is also a little cafe, skate park and outside playground.

Fabulous, very cheap day out, yet beautiful and unusual. Butterfly world is educational, interesting, and a different experience at a very good price???? Preston Hall was well worth the money, and the ticket lasts all year. Fabulous gardens, added bonus was the vintage orchard, never seen one before..and got lots of ideas for our own garden. Lovely tearoom in the mock Victorian Street ( was able to get GF cake!) ????. Museum, shop, and winter garden are worth planning another visit ???? Will definitely be coming back. Staff were all very friendly, made for a great day out. Didn't get round everything. Grounds are huge and house a great park and skate park, cafe, toilets football field, large grassy spaces, car park and Riverside. Wow!!!!!

Love this place. A favourite as a child and still as good as it ever was. Plenty to do and see. Great playpark and skate park for kids and these are free if money is tight. Lovely woodland and river walks. A great day out for all the family

Preston Park always a nice stroll out with the kids. Easy to get to and plenty of parking spaces here. There's toilets near the cafe and toilets in the old street. A couple of cafes also on. Great museum and victorian Street. The kids love it here. Also butterfly world is on site ????

A little gem on the doorstep, have always loved walking & running these grounds and great for family time with the park and cafe which serves ice creams and food etc, very family friendly with some stunning views.

Always well maintained and kept clean, has ample parking and a pretty awesome skate park too, literally something for everyone here the museum is excellent and educational, the Victorian street with shops is really something a bit special and great to see on Teesside, what a fabulous park for everyone, highly recommended.

Grew up in the area and have fond memories of Preston Park in the 80s/90s. Moved away from the area so not been for a bit but have been when the crazy golf was there. Can't remember much from the visit other than the golf. Went on Saturday and really enjoyed myself. The museum was better than I remembered (think I've missed a section though) I of course enjoyed the Victorian Street best. I particularly liked the fact that there is a teashop on it, and the staff in the sweet shop were lovely and professional. I'd asked to take a photo and they were happy to have a picture taken but were mindful some children were there so encouraged them to turn round so their faces weren't included. The entry price is really good value, and even better the tickets are value for a year! The items for sale in the cafe, sweet shop etc were also well priced too, especially given the current climate. Enjoyed a walk down through the woods and near the river. A great day out, with plenty to do. Choice of cafes - one near the children's play park, the victorian street tea room (need an entry ticket) and apparently there is a hatch at the back, which looks good for those with dogs. Park is dog friendly. There is big huge grass area for picnics and games, with kids and dog. Currently free parking though kot a very big carpark.

Lovely day out here taking a trip back in time! And with the interest in viking history on the rise with The last kingdoms Netflix series help you'd love the collection of viking/saxon artifacts there! The old street with a few open shops was great to walk around and with very friendly shopkeepers! Highly recommended this place and when finished the park and other walk routes are just minutes away!

This is an excellent place to spend time with your family and friends. It is made and is kept with love. People working here are friendly and helpfull.
The car park is free. It isn't large, but so far I have always been able to find parking.
There is a playground for kids of different ages. The choice of what to do, climbers etc. isn't standard so isn't boring. There is a skate boarding (roller skating, biking) park, a bit larger than usually.
There used to be a huge bird enclosure. A pity it's not supported and just stands abandoned.
You can walk along the river. There are places for boats and canues (someone complained to me they get vandalised time to time, what a shame if really so!) In spring the grounds are full of white crocuses and other flowers. Unfortunately there is no benches along the river path.
You can also walk on the large area of the grounds. There are various landscape features. You can find really well located sunny benches near the museum. There is plenty picknick tables, some with excellent views.
A cafe could have had more options, but also it has all basic ones, can't really complain, my food was good. A lady serving us pointed out we can save using an offer, which we didn't notice at first, thank you!
The museum is very good, defenetly worth a visit. I wish though that I could find out more about particular objects there. I am sure someone could have produced more text including stories from the past. It might be possible to put in in a phone app or just as paper text notes near the objects.
A wonderfull part of the museum is a street with shops, postoffice, police station, where you can walk in and imagin yourself in the past. You can buy sweets in the sweets shop, also it's not as interactive as in Beamish museum where you can see people making these sweets. And the lady there tried, but couldn't really tell me more about which sweets belong to which era, how the recipies differ. A pity! There is a working cafe on this street, packed with customers, indeed! The enclosed park was closed when I visited.
I particularly enjoyed the conservatery at the museum. Even though there isn't too many varieties of plants, but it's a very pleasant warm and sunny place, with beautiful floor tiles and heavy wrought iron window frames in white.
There is also a butterfly enclosure separately somewhere else in the park.
There are toilets in the museum, not sure about the cafe at the playgrounds.
Hopefully you'd enjoy this place as much as I did!
