Really good stay. Welcomed late on a Friday (around 10pm) by a friendly chap called Rob. Room lovely, tea, coffee, milk sachets, biscuits. Towels provided. Wet room style shower nice and clean. Good view out of the window.
Stunning gardens and architecture. Breakfast good (Danish pastries, cereals, toast, fruit, bar with staff for teas coffees fruit tea etc) also had oat milk (a sign by the cereals might be a good idea?).
Very quiet lovely to wander around the grounds. Taxi into Durham was about £15.
Would highly recommend.

What a truly beautiful place! A former Catholic seminary for over 200 years until 2011 now open to the public and with rooms. We were met by Sam the duty manager who is very friendly and informative. Our room was excellent. There are 9 beautiful chapels here and an art gallery. The place feels full of history. There is also a lovely garden. Staff and volunteers are all so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back to this very special place

I visited yesterday (27th May 2023) for the car show. The traffic management for the event was terrible. With long ques and traffic lights that didn't change from red. The parking wasn't great either and the stewards seemed to let one side of traffic go more than the others so, there were long waits to enter and leave.
The event itself was good with a nice selection of cars, but many started to leave by mid afternoon. The admission price was reasonable. The grounds were interesting especially the building with its many chapel's. The gardens weren't as big as we'd expected though.
There weren't a lot of food choices and by early afternoon the food trucks had run out of many items from their menus.
Won't be in a hurry to go back. But I'm glad I finally got a chance to visit.

Ushaw is unique and beautiful but also very decadent.
The cafe is now teeny and the big refectory room is unused.
The car parking for the event was very poor, it took us 60 mins to get out despite the fact they had temporary traffic lights controlling the junction.
Apart from that, it was a lovely event in a wonderful place.

Fantastic place to visit especially if you are religious. So many chapels to see each individually decorated in amazing styles. We joined the guided tour which was led by a fantastic guide who had many personal insights on the treasures to view. Without these insights you would never notice many of the hidden gems - for example, the mouseman mouse on one specific piece of furniture. If you are planning a visit, would highly recommend joining this tour. Also a lovely cafe on site with very reasonable prices. We spent 4 hours there which passed very quickly. Well worth a visit if you are in the Durham area.

The chapels and gardens are absolutely stunning. It was a real pleasure to look around and enjoyed the rhododendrons in flower and the wooden sculptures in the garden. The chapels decoration and stained glass are wonderful.

Hidden away this beautiful architectural & historical site which is overwhelming, French exhibition today as well as a bunny trail for Easter! Stunning gardens, great parking & lovely cafe. We are annual members but £8 for Adult day visit is excellent value & children under 5 are free, dog friendly but not in the house. Would fully recommend.
