Alverthorpe surgery must be the worst doctors in Wakefield. The receptionists are unhelpful and rude, you can't ever get to see the doctor. You can only have telephone appointment but there's never any available. They are supposed to be there to help but they are the complete opposite. The only person there that is pleasant and willing to help is Dawn the nurse. This surgery was never been like this it is going down hill rapidly.

Moved from a different surgery where you could never get an appointment. I understand that this is a difficult time for GP surgeries due to the pressures on the NHS including an ageing population. I understand that this is why we are triaged at 8am. I found the receptionists professional and polite on the phone. My cervical screening appointment with the nurse was made promptly and professionally and she was kind to speak to which put me at ease. I have recently had a chest infection and was advised to provide a sputum sample which came back viral. I was given advice on the phone which was correct and the correct advice for my other health concerns. I cannot speak the same for bramley. I work as a nurse myself and appreciate the pressure put on the NHS at this time.

I've been with this surgery over 35 years. Dr McLean would be turning in his grave and his son Dr McLean would be discusted if he could see how its being run now.
Impossible to get an appointment, Impossible to get a referral, When you do get through nobody listens or they want you to send a picture in.
Receptionists aren't interested. I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of changing surgeries while in the middle of treatment for cancer but enoughs is enough.

You can never ever get a call back never mind an appointment . It’s been months of trying . Trinity and Warrengate are amazing compared to this doctors.
Avoid at all costs.

Staff (especially at reception) genuinely don't care about the patients. I've tried on multiple occasions this year to see the doctor and I've been fobbed off to nurses who can't change my medication or say much except "wait and see". I've been told at the hospital I need to have blood tests and they refuse to perform them. I spent all morning ringing them today, line busy each time, no voicemail available. Eventually they called me back when I was in the toilet, and rather than leaving a voicemail or return number to reach them at, they sent a text message telling me to ring the surgery, like I hadn't wasted all morning doing that! They are the most frustrating people to deal with when you're in tip top health, never mind when you're under the weather. I don't understand people who work in a caring profession when they don't seem to care at all about the people, just the processes. They give the genuinely caring people in the NHS a bad name.

Avoid this place! Receptionist are all rude and only 1 doctor, can never get any appointments. Had to change surgery and surprised he still have some patients left

Trying to get an appointment here is a running joke! If you can get through to the doctors there are never any appointment available. 2-6 weeks is how long it takes here to get one. Doctor McLean would not have run his surgery this way, he listened to his patients

Been trying to get a referral for over a year only to be fobbed off with antibiotics & breast screening. I need referring to plastics but no joy over 1 year later.
