Keep in mind that you need to drive 15 min from Kinnloch Rannoch to reach the estate.
Most buildings are abandoned, some are used for tourists. We had an older cottage, very romantic on the inside but also by far outdated and extreme cold (oktober)
The shower was working, but to be honest not useable.
We have met the owner who is very friendly and lives in the castle. Despite the romantic atmosphere and friendly owner, for me not a place to return to.

We went there 12 years ago with the extended family and with my wife's mother, who had started on the rocky road of alzheimer's realising it was probably her last chance also to visit relatives whilst she'd still remember who they were we found the estate which had the old headmasters house which was ideal for a large party.
For that reason, Ranoch was an ideal place to get away from it all with plenty of peace and quiet.
Yes, their is a large number of redundant and derelict buildings, which were once part of an ex fee paying school where plenty of elite children were once educated but...
The estate sits in easy reach to the hills behind with plenty of walking to be had.
There's also a quiet, extensive shoreline of Loch Rannoch to explore in front of the school. My youngest and brother in law braved a dip in the Loch????
For those looking for discos, pubs etc yes it's not the place to be as it's nearly at the head of the Loch where the remotest train station in the country is situated.
There's also a small fish ladder to join the two lochs at its head. if you're lucky there, maybe a few fish to watch.
Beyond the train station, there are a lot of deer stalking grounds round about, and you do need to heed the warnings.
Red Deer Stag: July 1st – October 20th. Red Deer Hind: October 21st – February 15th.
Also, Rannoch Moor, it's self, is really only for the expert outside of these dates because the Moor is a very unforgiving and remote place with many dangerous peat bogs.
However, having said that the openness and grandeur of a massive unspoilt open space in front of you with the Glencoe range in the distance is awe-inspiring.
