This "trailblazer site" is a beautiful scenic spot for wild camping maintained by Scottish Canals. We used the fire pit and it was very convenient (...and a perfect spot for a marriage proposal!) Lots of flat areas between the trees for pitching tent. We could see and hear the road the other side of the loch but it quietened down later in the night. Lots of wildlife around and we heard them moving around the tent during the night. Beautiful morning view over Loch Lochy. Composting toilet had two cubicles that were both unlocked and there was plenty of toilet paper.

***NOTE FOR HIKERS: The campsite is remote and for those hiking the Great Glen Way there is a new and rather cryptic "short diversion" to avoid some Coillie Gas works. Ignore this if you want to get to the campsite without doing a massive detour up the side of the hill! ***

Great spot, as of October 2022 there is work going on to build a new pump storage hydro power station nearby which has diverted the Great Glen way footpath up the hill away from the site. The works will be quite a way away as far as I can tell. You can still cut down to the site and back up from it from the foot path diversion through the woods in 10 minutes, which I would say is worth the effort although there are branches etc to work through. Canoe access (which is how I got there as well as on foot) is not a problem.

Trees give shelter from Westerly winds which was great for me.

Usual rules apply "leave no trace" like everyone before you so we can all keep enjoying it.

Absolutely magnificent spot for a lunch break walking the Great Glen way. Hot day so we took time to have a quick swim in the Loch. No comments on the toilets as we didn’t use them.

A wonderful place to stay on the GGW. Please help to keep it clean! It's a shame that some people go out of their way just to destroy things (like the composting toilets) or leave their trash.

Great place to stop on a walk of the Great Glen way, especially if it's pouring with rain. The small shelter is a bit further along from the main site and is (largely) waterproof - a good place to stop it of the rain to dry things off and sleep without having to set up a tent.

Love this wild camping spot. Has compost loo. Quite sheltered.

Forestry works were ongoing at the time, so a longer distanced walk to campsite than expected from car. Good couple of open spots on beach front for camping, with a shelter and 2 pre-made camp fire locations for use by anyone. Two compost toilets are also available but never had to use them! Smaller areas within the treeline are also good for pitching up but weather permitting. Many marshy areas and small burns that overflow during heavy rain. Would return here again, although pack lighter if planning a weekend stay. Beautiful views along with sunrise and moonrise over the lochs waters.

Not a pleasurable experience if I'm totally honest. The compost toilets had been wrecked and the lock prised off. As for the toilets I would say unusable. The best bit is the view
