Visited on a blistering hot day. Very tranquil place to visit. The mill was very informative. Interesting chat with the volunteer guide in the castle. Excellent value for money. Tickets get to intro the castle and the mill. Dog friendly. Good parking. & a pub across the road .

Lovely morning spent exploring the castle and the tidal mill. It’s a compact site with a lot to explore.
We had a nice lunch outside in the picnic bench pods which protected us from the wind and rain. (There is also seating inside the cafe.) The cafe was busy and could have done with some more staff. The ones that served us were lovely but v busy and it took a while for the sandwiches and soup to arrive.

Lovely circular walk, easy for me! And the pooch enjoyed it too. No cost for the walk, plus free parking! Small cost if yoy want to visit the castle itself.

We had a nice walk around there and past the mill,adults is £7 each we chose not to go in ,a lot of dog walkers go for a walk around the castle ,there is a big free car park and a smaller one over the bridge with some benches.

Rooms were set out with displays
Ticket to tidal mill is included in castle ticket
Dog-friendly castle(not sure if tidal mill was dog-friendly or not)
Nice cafe inside castle

Fabulous place, especially if you get there just as the tide starts to rise, and fill the channels and the lake. Fascinating to watch - and the castle and mill are beautiful backdrops to the sun setting, too. We haven't visited the castle yet, but you can do the lake side walk without entering the castle grounds.

A nice big castle with lots to explore across different levels. Although it’s largely in ruins, there are a number of rooms / areas with ceilings which would provide shelter from the odd shower. The castle was definitely our preference of the two places, both allow dogs in all areas. The castle is close to the car park with good access and a nice gift shop / coffee shop. The tidal mill is around a third of a mile walk from the car park.

Great fun for a few hours. Reasonably priced however as we visited during Easter, we expected a bit more entertainment or activities for the kids. The trebuchet demonstration was brilliant.

Perhaps some knowledgeable staff walking around to answer questions about the castle would have improved the visit. There are however a number of information boards that covers a lot of its history.
