Lovely country pub. Hotel room was very nice if a little on the small side. Got very warm in the recent heatwave but plenty of outdoor seating in the shade and the landlord was happy for us to stay sat out after they had closed up. They do close the bar surprisingly early though (around 10pm on a Saturday night) so worth remembering if you were hoping for a night cap. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order. Pleasant staff with food service and really helpful. We enjoyed our stay Thank you.

We called in here after visiting Castaway Play. The food looked good online and it seemed to have a country pub look and feel to it.

Our initial reactions were that the service was awful. Our waitress was unpleasant and never came back to take our order (we had to go and ask to order). They slightly improved but we felt like everything was too much trouble.

Oh the flip side, the food and drink were extremely good. We had the pie of the day. Really good portion sizes and it tasted truly home cooked.

I tried some of our sons pizza, that was also really good. Dough tasted home made along with the sauce.

Overall we would go back. I think the service was a blip. And the food was worth it

A pleasure to stay here and easy to recommend.

The staff are truly lovely and always cheerful, professional and happy to help.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed.

The food is fantastic and has some real stand out dishes. Certainly better than most similar style pubs/inns. Fair prices given the quality.

I look forward to future stays.

What a great pub! Ten mins walk from our house and I have a feeling we’ll be making that journey quite often!

Food was superb. We ordered the fish and chips, pizza, home-made pie and chicken burger. All were excellent.

Service was superb. Cannot fault anything.

Definitely will return.

We visited for Sunday roast yesterday and unfortunately will not be returning. We booked a table as we assumed it would be busy. There were quite a few people sat outside but hardly anyone inside. Didn’t start well, when we arrived there was no ‘hello’ or ‘hi can I help you’ we just got stared at as if we were an inconvenience. If we hadn’t said we’ve booked a table I swear she would still be stood there looking at us now… drink order was taken straight away at the table, no problem. After sitting there for 45 minutes waiting to order food in a quiet restaurant we had to go and ask to be able to order. We had also sat amongst used tables that hadn’t been re-set since people left before we had even arrived. Some of which were still there when we left. We finally got to order..1 person orders lamb Sunday lunch… no problem… another orders beef Sunday lunch, sorry there’s no beef left… ok I’ll have the lamb instead, nope ‘that was the last lamb dinner’ oh. So had to go for the Turkey. We did not get told this until point of ordering which I don’t think is very good. At this point I didn’t want to hand my money over so didn’t even order any food. The lady server was honestly on another planet and didn’t seem to have a care in the world for her customers…. There was another couple who we noticed who tried to get attention of the staff for a good 15 minutes. They asked for a dessert menu. Another 15 minutes or so after having the menu they got up and walked out. I’m guessing because no one bothered to come back to see if they wanted anything. The other bit that concerned me were the two tables that had reserved signs on for people coming later on… what were they going to be offered to eat? Hope they had been pre-warned that there was no meat left for a roast. It’s a real shame but the service seemed so bad that I just wouldn’t go again. Hoping you could use this to maybe have some proper front of house training for the staff, especially this particular one. To be fair the food did look good although my party was split with one who enjoyed it and the other who didn’t.

We came here yesterday for a Sunday roast,on the pubs website the medium roast was £9.50 but on the identical menu in the pub it was £10.00.

When the meal came nearly all the vegetables were hard and the turkey did not seem to be cooked properly.

We had three roast dinners and three soft drinks which came to just under £40.00 so disappointing really.

Food here was excellent, really good amount of choice on the menu and good kids options too. All the meals we had were superb, especially the kids chicken goujons which had lovely light batter on them. Arancini was another star dish. Very highly recommended!

A very nice pub in a great setting near to a lovely church. Called in one evening for a quick pint. Moretti £6.50 a pint ????. I was gob smacked.
I won't be calling again ☹️
