Pleasant spacious public space with free parking. Retail businesses include The Dorset Wine Company, Duchess of Cornwall Inn, Waitrose, Poundbury Garden Centre, Brace of Butchers and The Gallery on the Square. Architecture of the like not usually seen outside the swankier parts of Central London!

Nice, sometimes the parking is busy.
Good for little Waitrose and Dorset wine shop.
Visitors often struggle to understand how and where to park in the square, which gives rise to some interesting traffic problems.

Not a square just filled with cars trying to run you over, the old people running loose in the town blocking the roads on their mobility scooters

A nice urban square. Pedestrian walks across the Peverel Avenue part of the square could benefit from having some protective posts half way across to act as refuges for crossing pedestrians. It is a long walk from one side to the other. Many drivers do not recognise the crossings and the traffic calming is often not slowing them down sufficiently that pedestrians feel safe

Poundbury is strangely anachronistic like mint condition fake period furniture. Dorchester is a beautiful town with a town center formed gently by history. If the architects of Poundbury had borrowed more from the town, it might be more convincing.
