I had a bad experience today at the doctor's and I would like to share publicly for the purpose of warning others seeking a diagnosis or support with a mental disorder. I am 28 years old and attended today hoping to just explore the possibility of being referred for a diagnosis of a mental disorder which runs in my family. I requested to begin the referral process and was told in no uncertain terms that I have been looking too much at social media with "tiktok" mentioned specifically and told that everyone now believes they have this. I was then asked questions about my personal life which I answered. By this point the demeanor of the doctor had caused me to close off completely and I was unable to articulate myself properly. The doctor then stated that if I was able to hold down a job and a relationship I am not in enough need to get help and that this is just "the nature of the NHS now"(exact words). I cannot begin to explain how hard I have to work to maintain having a job and relationship and the toll on my mental health is getting worse with each day. I went to the doctor today hoping to begin a process to receive help to cope and manage my life. I have come away from the appointment feeling gaslighted and completely invalidated. The doctors attempts to tell me these things "to manage my expectations about getting referred" is just further gaslighting as it is them that does the referral with data from questionnaires I fill in. They were telling me those things as they did not believe me and that could not have been made clearer by their social media rant.
For future I will write a list of reasons why I believe I should be referred to have these to hand given any setbacks. This may be helpful advice for any other patients.
I will call tomorrow for another appointment and hope that this won't be repeated. If it is I will just keep trying.

P.S I don't have social media. Never been on tiktok

My first proper connection with the surgery as a new patient. Called at 8am second in the queue. Just over an hour later Dr Grubb called back. My prescription was picked and dispensed at boots for 12 o'clock. The receptionist was very efficient with a nice manner.

Doctor are good and really helpful
But reception are never available when I call at 8.00.. later I try call again 8.30.. and later I don't know why they don't have any appointments available.

I know is so busy everywhere
But people need more attention and that need to change for make feeling better when someone need to contact with a pain.

Waited over 6 weeks for an important prescription, had called several times during this period and was told it was not ready along with several other excuses/reasons. After all those weeks we were told it was actually ready and had been sitting in the prescription box, in all those calls not one staff member had thought to check there. My daughter needed the prescription to aid her healing after spending a lot of time in hospital so this delayed her healing.

Staff were not interested and were rude when we were asking what is going on. Even after we got prescription staff did not apologise and said it was our fault.

Cannot complain through nhs as this is a private clinic. After waiting for ages and attempting a few times practise manager never called back, then told to send complaint in writing which we did but never got a reply.

If thinking about using this practise then don’t.

My husband, with cancer, phoned last Tuesday was told they didn’t have time (7 days notice) to take bloods requested by oncology for his cancer treatment.
When I phoned back, the receptionist (who led me to believe she was the practice manager) rudely said she’d have to squeeze him into her coffee break but it would only be the following Tuesday (today).
Already an extremely worrying time for all of us and the rudeness of this receptionist was appalling. She was very cold with my husband and didn’t know what the bloods were for so I phoned today to tell her and ask that she lets the lab know. She refused to take the information, told me to phone the lab myself then hung up! There’s barely a week passes when we get a text alert saying not to come to the surgery due to staffing issues. Sometimes twice a week. This is the worst surgery around.

Used to be a really good practice but have just gotten worse and worse. Misdiagnosing, no support from reception staff, can never get an appointment half the time.

I don't understand the bad reviews, have we all forgotten how we clapped for the NHS two years ago? This surgery has never left me needing help, all the GPs are very supportive, they listen and work with the patient. And the reception staff is nice and efficient as well. Yes, they are struggling but they do get back to you and don't leave you without support.

Was great service 10 years ago when my son was born. Absolutely awful service now . Was left sitting outside the 20 mins one day with suspected pneumonia as no one wd answer their buzzer system - did go to hospital - just had a full blown argument with a defensive doctor on the phone e - never seen the likes . I’m actively moving doctors today.
