If you're in the area, this is well worth a trip, a real green gem sitting right by the desert. Enjoy a walk of 1, 3 or 5km through a range of native environments containing and conserving multiple native bird, animal and plant species. Easily accessible on foot and suitable for both able and less able people of all ages.

Such a magical place with guaranteed opportunities to see, flamingos from a wonderful bird, blind located at the end of the trail

Just 40 min out of Abu Dhabi city is this amazing wetland reserve. Best to be there at 8 am when gates open. Love short hike. Flamingo viewing hideout visited by HM King Charles. Over 4000 Flamingos. A lot of mosquitoes in the hideout beware.

Search Google Maps for "Al Wathba Wetland reserve MAIN ENTRANCE" and you will find the way.
The 3 km track was a nice walk with a few stops along the way. We saw flamingos, stilts, green bee eaters, plovers etc. Bring water and binoculars. At the start they also had a telescope to see the flamingos a little better. Great morning out if you want to see some nature and wildlife and walk around in the cooler weather. Takes around 45 minutes to walk the longer route. A little tricky to find if following Google maps, but worth it ????

A nice trail to do in winter. The reserve has free entry. The trail to see the flamingos is 3.2km under the sun, but it has some spots with shadow to rest. The flamingos are very far away tho, so it's nothing very impressive. We also didn't saw any other animals, like lizards and bugs. It is a nice ride to do with kids and/or friends if they are interested in nature.

Natural flamingo reserve. Nice and clean.
Better to visit in the morning hours. Since it was hot on the day of our visit at 8 am, it was very tiring for us and for kids also.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes while visiting since it's around 3 km walk.
We just saw flamingoes flying away from us.. got a good video capture and few amazing pics.
Spotted few flamingoes in between.
Couldn't see any lizard.
There r 2 shelter areas to rest.
Few shaded areas in between as well. Rest all is desert, sand and plants.
Toilets are only at the entrance.
No joint for food or drinks.
So carry lots of water to keep hydrated and some light snacks as it's tiring to walk for 2 hours.
Don't forget cap and sunscreen.
Mosquitoes might be there (depending upon time of the day).

Nice place to visit overall. 2 walking trails, both easy. Couple of watching points, can see flamigoes and other birds. Not worth to come from other cities jost for this attraction, but it can be combined with other activities.

Only opens on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Not many reviews on Google but it is obviously a very popular spot to visit. When we were there at 9am there was a french group of about 20 ready to start the walk.

Go as early as possible to avoid the scorching sun. Wear muted colors as not to scare the birds. Pack plenty of water. Prep up with sunscreen. Toilets are very clean. Ample parking space. The rangers were very helpful and friendly. Don’t forget the binoculars!
