Easily the best historical attraction in Dundee! (Infinitely better than V&A for sure). Kudos to the genious curator!

It's a shame the review photos don't cover the many, many interesting pieces inside – a boat carved out of a single tree, a metal mask used to shame slanderers publicly, harpoons & bombs used to hunt whales, uretheral bougies, islamic prayer mats, reproduced old streets & shops, and paintings with mesmerising light & shade representation!!

I've been to many museums around the world. This one is a hidden gem for sure. Oh, and it has a kids area too ????

McManus Galleries in the centre of Dundee is literally a hidden gem ???? in Dundee. Two floors of display space inside a beautiful building. A fully accessible building giving access to the upper floors with a lift. Specialist exhibitions are presented throughout the year. The core display gives a fantastic insight into the early years and development of the people and the city of Dundee. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable.
There is a well stocked gift shop and a good cafe on site.
If you visit Dundee or live in Dundee this really is a gem worth visiting.

I didn't get a long walk around it, but what I did see was magnificent. The rooms flowed together, and there's something for everyone. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the admission is completely free (with optional donation points around the building)

I'll definitely be going back soon for a proper wander ????

Beautiful building inside and out and well worth walking all around the outside. Apparently restored a few years ago and now lovingly maintained. Great modern art collection, interesting exhibits relating to the history of Dundee and the geology of the area. Well worth a visit, highly recommended. The architecture of the surrounding buildings well worth a look too.

A must visit ! Fantastic museum and art gallery with cafe!
It’s just brilliant, loads of Dundee history, art works and animal related things.

The ground floor has a lot about whale and local history. The huge whale bone hanging from the ceiling made me speechless. It has lots of info on old Dundee landmarks, big events and stories.

Upstairs is mostly art work, i really like the fact that they have a replica of The street, that’s full of shops used to be popular locally, super interesting and unique. They have a grand selection of art pieces as well!

The café has quite a lot of food to choose from, I had the McManus special, comes with soup of the day, sandwich or roll with filling of your choice and pot of tea or coffee for only £9, so affordable, the food is served super quickly, tasty too!

I can’t recommend this place enough, a must visit if your coming to a Dundee! The staffs here are so so friendly ????

Loved this place. Popped in on the way to lunch nearby, and really enjoyed it. Great mix, not too big. Wee bit of everything!

Love this place!! It’s the largest monument to Prince Albert outside of london the gallary although small have a good range of items on display. I love the paintings gallery. It is superior to the Victoria and Albert museum!

The McManus art gallery and museum is located in Dundee, Scotland. It is a beautiful Victorian Gothic building that was completed in 1867 and holds a varied collection of art and artifacts from around the world. The museum is open to the public and I'm sure you would find it to be an interesting and educational experience if you're ever in the area.
