We travelled from Bilboa to Rosslare on the new Salamanca Ferry, and it was just fantastic.

We originally travelled over on the Brittany ferry Connamara which was not a pleasant experience, and the ship needs to be discontinued.

The Salamanca ferry exceeded our expectations, the cabins were spotlessly clean, we stayed in the pet friendly ones. In the cabins you have a proper thermostat to control the heating in your cabin.

The boat offers you a breakfast, lunch and dinner, dependant on your type of reservation the dinner will be included in the cost of your cabin, You pay for your drinks separately,and also pay for lunch and Breakfast.

The dinner was amazing it was a 3 course sit down meal while you are waited on by the lovely staff.

There is a playground, and outdoor exercise area on the top floor. The boat also has 2 shops, a bar and a restaurant. We honestly loved it.

I was booked on the Plymouth to Santander ferry this morning. I arrived OK well in time. I went to the booth to check in and suddenly my wife's passport was an issue. It is valid till late January 2024, it was issued 31st May 2013. They said it wasn't valid. I said we are Spanish residents and here are our cards. That made no difference. The BF Dury manager arrived and said no your wife is not travelling even though she has a residence card. You need to get a new passport. Again l pleaded what the Spanish authorities had said but it fell on deaf ears. I parked up and rang the UK passport office. An extremely helpful lady therelistened to what l said and replied if your wife had flown today she would be on the plane, unfortunately BF are reading the rules and are interpreting their way. So l would pull away and leave them. She said these rules are in for inbound passengers to the UK, you are a resident of Spain and on arrival your residence card would as you have said let you in as it's your home country. The lady kindly helped us arrange for a new passport to be collected from their offices on the 14th June. So thanks BF for nothing a d causing a massive stress attack on a retired person. If your manager had, had the decency to speak to the passport office the matter could have been resolved.

Great experience travelling from Plymouth to Santander really easy process getting on the ferry, would advise anyone who is travelling to pack some basic essentials some snacks for the trip and some drinks. There was a microwave on the ship (pont aven) so you could even warm your own food up. It was our first trip would defiantly do it again but would be better prepared. Cabins are small but ours served the purpose. Clearing customs in Spain was also very straight forward didn't even have to leave the car.

This was the best start to a holiday ever! Basically a mini cruise taking us down to Santander for the start of our European tour. Fantastic food, friendly staff, clean cabin and general an all round great experience. The restaurants were brilliant - better than most you’ll find in the U.K!! Thoroughly recommended summer experience and a great way to travel - let the boat take the strain ⛴

Santander to Plymouth was expensive but provided a very pleasant journey. The ship was clean and well ordered as were the cabins, albeit quite small. The food outlets offered a good choice of well presented food at acceptable prices. Bi-lingual staff were always efficient and helpful. Overall the ship and crossing was a very agreeable experience.

Far better experience than the airport. Loads to do, prices reasonable aboard ship and the food is really good. A great night's sleep, but I highly recommend you take a decent pillow for the cabins.

We enjoyed our crossing with Brittany ferries from Plymouth to Santander. The 20 hours seemed to go alot quicker than we thought it would. We had a dog friendly cabin and found the crossing to be very relaxing, if a little busy. We were more than happy to pay the £740 odd pounds for the crossing for the convenience of being able to take our pet pooch and to head straight to Spain.

The staff are very friendly and helpful plus they've got the 'taking your pets' with you very well organised so it really wasn't stressful at all. Green stickers for the windscreen to indicate a dog(s) plus paw prints on the deck to indicate the location of the pet cabins and the walking area; which was very clean.

We'll happily use again. There wasn't anything that we didn't like. Disembarkation took about 45 minutes plus another half an hour to get through passport control and then to have our dog's papers & chip checked. But we weren't in a hurry so were happy for it to take as long as it took. Travelling with a motorhome we had to wait almost to the end to be unloaded to allow for the car deck to be raised so that we could get underneath and off, but again we weren't in a hurry.

All-in-all very pleased with the crossing.

A good crossing with comfortable cabin. It would be nice to have a full service restaurant on the Armorique but the self-service, while not having much ambiance, provides good food at a reasonable price.
