Had to go for a very sad occasion, but a really lovely church. Originally built in 1068 (2 years after the Norman conquest) , then rebuilt in the early 17th century . A very nice church, if you are in the area give it a visit, if you enjoy churches. Evidently the oldest known grave stone is 1660.

St Mary's if Sandbach is Church of England in the diocese of Chester. The church was shut when I visited so review is based on the externals. There are some interesting fragments of the Anglo-Saxon crosses that move moved from the market square for extra protection.

A gem of a church and town bye passed by millions on the M6

Very very fine English architecture and feel. Stop off for petrol, Coffee shopping at a Waitrose.

Better than motorway service centre.

Traditional church in Sandbach, Cheshire, Church of England.
I have strong family links to the church so it always triggers strong emotions for me.
The church looks best in Spring with the bluebells out around the church yard.
Standing by the church door tends to be because I'm attending a family wedding, baptism or funeral. Some of my family are buried in the church yard and my grandfather was the vicar of St Mary's many years ago.

I can't really give it a neutral review given all this!
The pathway up has enough steps and trip hazards that it's quite an undertaking given my disabilities, and the long route round is just a different set of obstacles so slightly easier, but only slightly, and parking is awkward, so a mark off for causing me pain and being really difficult to access.

St Mary's Church is almost a typical town church, except that this one was rebuilt by Sir George Gilbert Scott around 1848. From a historic and architectural point of view, it is fascinating to look around, in particular the stained glass windows, numerous plaques on the walls, to the old headstones paving some of the walkways.
