Family of 4 (parents and 2 offspring) so asked for a family ticket. Grumpy assistant said 4 adults? Nope, a family ticket please... to which she demanded their ages - 15 and 17. I was then refused and told I had to purchase 3 adults and 1 child... Nearly £8 more expensive than a family ticket... Why?... Because my son was 17 not 16. No map given, no directions, nothing about being able to return just a grumpy non smiling assistant. Good job I had a phone with my own map then! Once inside the other workers were much more friendly and accommodating. Spent a good few hours exploring and it wasn't at all busy. Nobody around to check our wrist bands so could of just walked in to the village like a few others we had chatted to today. One guy even told us we were daft paying to go into the gardens as noone ever checks. However we did pay and enjoyed our day. Fabulous sights, recommend visiting the gardens... Peaches in the greenhouse gave a fantastic aroma. 3 stars given because of the unnecessary grumpy assistant and the expensive charge.

If you're in Devon, this is one of those places that has a certain good old charm that makes it mandatory to visit if you're in the area.

First off, forget about cars and buses. You park at the main car park outside town, buy a ticket for £8.75 and then you walk downhill as vehicles are a no-go in Clovelly. Instead, you'll see donkeys and sledges hauling stuff up and down the narrow, cobblestone streets. It's like stepping into a time machine.

The village is bursting with cute cottages painted in bright white, surrounded by gorgeous flowers and greenery. Coupled with the charming cobblestone streets, the Instagram-worthy photo ops are endless! Make your way to the harbor to experience the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean stretching out before your eyes.

Also visit the Fisherman's Cottage. It's a place where you can learn about the village's rich maritime history. And if you're into gardens, the Clovelly Court Gardens are a must-visit. They're bursting with all sorts of colorful flowers and fragrant herbs.

In a nutshell, Clovelly Village is a hidden treasure. It's got charm, history, and amazing coastal views and a must visit in Devon.

Utterly beautiful, a real gem. Clovelly is a private village, therefore, there is a fee of £8.50, but, I assure you, it's worth it. All properties here are rented, the fee is for the upkeep of the village. The visitor centre is impressive, a large cafe with outdoor seating, equally large shop selling various gifts & local confectionary. The walk into the village is very steep & cobbled, be careful when it's wet, leading down to the harbour where you'll find breathtaking views across the bay, a large hotel here,(Red Lion), open to non residents. Various properties can be viewed on the way down to the harbour. For those who don't want to walk back up the hill, a landrover, seating about 6 or 8 people will take you back to the visitor centre. I can't praise this beautiful place enough.

We had a trip to Clovelly and it was a wonderful place to visit. So much history here!

You can wander round some of the old houses and read about it’s fascinating history.

The cobble pathway can be tricky but make sure you wear sensible footwear - not flip flops.

The little shops and pubs were a treat to visit. The view out to sea is beautiful on a clear day.

If your in the area I would recommend a visit!

Magnificent. Well worth the £8.75 entrance fee. Visit on a sunny morning if possible for the best views. Very steep cobbled walkway down to the harbour (Option to use Land Rover shuttle service - extra charge) 2 pubs serving food plus tea rooms. Visitor Centre has a café
Quite charming, a jewel

Beautiful village been here before but this time the sun was glorious so made it look even prettier, had food by the little fishing harbour with children swimming in the water. We also stayed in a bed and breakfast in clovelly so made it even more special

I read the reviews of people moaning how expensive it is to enter. And yes, it was 8.75 adult ticket in april 2023. Is it worth it. Definitely, yes. Car park was free, so the way i see it, i paid for the car park (most car parks cost at least 4 quid for a few hours) and lets say 4.75 to enter the village. With the ticket, you get to see fishermans house, chapel, gardens, donkey stables and a museum. It's incredibly beautiful on a nice day when the sun is shining. It is very steep indeed, easy to go down, but takes some time to go back up. There is land rover service, but it is seasonal.
I visited tea room, food was reasonably priced. Got an ice cream (seriously delicious) from old post office. Explored all the small narrow streets and admired architecture of all the cottages. Met some friendly locals who live there and met few beautiful cats too.
10/10 worth a visit.

Really pretty village, cobbled street (very steep) and pebbly beach. The little shops and donkey grooming are nice to visit too and the pub at the bottom. However it isn't quite as 'car-less' as the advertising leads you to believe, with occasional tractors going up the hill and if you go behind the pub at the bottom you discover the secret 'backstage' car park and road that the residents use.
