Lovely place! We had a great chat with one of the staff (she was greeting at the front door on Wednesday 5th July at around 10am!) and told us all about the building, the exhibitions and even the best route to go around.

The standard collection here is worth the visit always but they had a menswear fashion exhibition on at the time which was great, looking at the history of men's tailoring and dressing.

The shop in here has some great bits to purchase or just look through, with the cafe doing some normally priced treats and lunchtime specials. You could easily spend an hour

Friendly curators, well signposted art, this gallery guides the viewer to reflect on art from the past with questions/audio guides making one consider the future of the world.

In particular, loved the climate justice gallery, an absolute must see.

A must-stop on any visit to Manchester. This central gallery had a great selection of modern, classic and alternative pieces of art. Their shop is also worth a visit.

Great galleries. I saw the ones on dandies and male fashion as well as how tea, coffee, chocolate and alcohol have become addictive British drinks. This gallery celebrates how the more well to do enjoyed such beverages in some lovely porcelain cups and teapots. My favourite is the beautifully detailed illustrated depiction of the process of making tea on an ivory tusk. Its unethical but that aside, the craftsmanship is absolutely had me mesmerised. You can see people and animals carved in tiny forms on the ivory tusk.
Sadly, the lighting did not allow for fabulous photo.

The gallery on male dandy fashions through the ages to current times is equally fascinating.

This was a wonderful spontaneous stumble.

Excellent art gallery with plenty of galleries to spend your time wondering around on a rainy day. Great cafe attached too.

I spotted it on Google Maps and decided to give it a try, and I am very glad I did. The building is a beautiful combination between the old and the new. I particularly loved the way they expressed a desire to source more artefacts from outside the UK and highlighting when artefacts were imitating styles from non-European countries. The Cold Cases sculpture exhibit was a great and insightful project, too.
