Located just off the A1 this is a lovely piece of Andy Scott artwork celebrating the locally born John Muir known as the father of national parks. If you park near ASDA or the garden centre it is about 3/4 of a mile to the bear. There is not any designated parking.The path through open naturalised fields is a wide paved surface with a gradual slope in the last section. Suitable for wheelchairs (may need assistance with slope/ mobility scooters. At the top you are right at the feet of the bear which towers over you. The area is fenced off from the main road so happily had dogs offlead on way to it. Well worth the visit.

Loved this peice of Andy Scott's art work. Park at the asda and either take the winding tarmac path to the bear or go across the grass where the path has been cleared. I struggle to walk distances but I made it to the bear and sat on its plinth and then walked back with out too much trouble. If I was not being eaten alive by the midges I would have got a picnic from asda and had lunch here. The wild field around the bear is humming with wildlife and flowers. Amazing.

This painted Andy Scott sculpture is to celebrate John Muir born from Dunbar and a key person who helped implement National Parks in USA.
Done is his usual metal work style and can be seen from the main road but badly sign posted.
To get to it head into town and park by the garden centre. A winding easy path suitable for all wi fs its way up to the sculpture.

The only issues really are that you have to park in the supermarket car park and the the path way isn't really well marked or in the best place as you can see where people have ignored the path and just walked straight over the field

Amazing structure. We parked in a layby next to the bear on the A1 to view it properly but unfortunately could not see a clear path to view him closer.

Short walk on footpath across fields, at present. Fine location, lovely views. No signs to assist in finding!
