We went over on the ferry from Balmaha which was every 30 mins or so and reasonably priced. It was worth it for the view from the highest point alone. Ruined church and graveyard were interesting plus great woodland walks.

A beautiful island nature reserve on Loch Lomond. Walk round in 2 or 3hrs.Wecwere luck enough to see the Fallow Deer. Take the little boat from Balmaha boatyard.

After a short ferry ride across the Loch you disembark onto the island. A steep path takes you into the island and the point where you can decide which route to take. We decided to take the summit route and it only took us 20 minutes to get to Port Bawn on the other side of the island. We walked though a very beautiful and peaceful oak forest with lots of birds flitting among the trees. Very relaxing. At Port Bawn there is a little sandy beach with a manned tourist information booth. Compost toilets are also available near the beach but not mentioned in the information leaflet for the island which is strange? We walked back along the low route and apart from being surprised to see a young man strip off completely to put on his swimming trunks - no shame some people - made it back to the boat pier in about 25 mins.

A wonderful spot to bring a small group of young paddlers to get a taste of a canoe camping trip. The composting toilets have to be some of the best composting toilets in Scotland!!?? The tent pitches are excellent. It is almost entirely litter free. The walk around the island to the summit and the burial ground is spectacular and interesting.

We took the Island Cruise from Luss, which landed us on thr Island after about 45mins, then spent a few hours exploring the woodland trails. The views from the summit trail are beautiful! We then caught the boat back to Luss a few hours later. Be sure to check the departure times or there is a chance that you may get stranded there, as the Island is uninhabited.

clean campsite and compost toilets not far. Note that there is no water supply on the island so make sure to bring enough water from the main land. Ask the staff at the Jetty place for water they’ll tell you where to fill up your bottles. The island is well worth a stay; lots of nature, beautiful views and some history to explore. Come during spring time to see all the flowers bloom and to enjoy some serene time in nature. Also a Great spot for bird enthusiasts. Enjoyed camping here a lot! Please ensure to leave no trace when you camp. Take your trash and don’t walk off the main paths.

Beautiful little island, well worth a stop to go visit the island and hike around. You can hike the whole island in a couple of hours. Glad we took the time to explore it.

When we were there ferry was running hourly, it's a very short trip from Balmaha to Inchcailloch, only about 10 minutes ride.

Really nice tiny island for a short hike; can do the entire island in 2-4 hours. There is a £5 ferry from the boat yard in Balmaha; very short, 5 minutes or less.

Great place to stop and rest or camp if your boating, kayaking, or paddle boarding. There’s a small sand and rock beach with a boat dock tucked inside a cove on the southwest wide of the island.

From either side of the island you can reach the summit in about 25-30 minutes, I did with a 45-50lb pack carrying my child.
