A really nice church in the village of Rudston,famous for the Rudston Monolith which is taller than Stonehenge. Some quite unusual really nice stained glass windows. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area.

Taking advantage of visiting the monolith, I went inside the church. It has a Norman font inside it but the rest of the church dates from much later. Within the church there is an area that has a model of the village (the lights were not working when I visited) and also information on the famous people who have lived in the area,.

In the churchyard is the grave of local authoress Winifred Holtby (1898-1935) who wrote the novel South Riding.

If you are going to see the Monolith then pop in the church as there is an area with the history of the village and surrounding area as well as the church and Monolith. There are also some guide books available for a small donation

The Church itself is pleasant with plenty of stained glass and an impressive organ that can probably boom out a tune!

Lovely church, in a lovely village. Along with the usual inhabitants of the graveyard there is a very large free standing stone. Details of which can be read about in the church.

Informative interactive display of ayrronidng area's history in a large village church that is well worth a visit
