It's one if the BEST museums in Manchester, especially Lark Hill Place in the ground floor which is a fantastic showing of people's life in 19th century. You can walk in old Victorian Street re-constructed from original shops, and feel how people lived in ancient UK.
You can find beautiful galleries in upper floor and finally have a coffee in its great cafe.

Nice size of museum, small pay and display parking (£2.50 for a few hours min.may2023) reasonably priced cafe and a nice little park right next to the museum.
The text describing artwork is small so you have to be tight up to the wall to read, which then stops others seeing the artwork. Be careful with directions as if you are in the wrong lane you can turn off too early leading to a big loop to get back.

This place was a great find for an afternoon out with something for all ages. The gallery has some historical art works with originals by Salford painters (including LS Lowry and Harold Riley). There is also a more contemporary art gallery with interesting audiovisual elements.
Throughout there are fun activities for kids; books, colouring and discovery boxes in the art gallery for example.

The Victorian Street is very unique and atmospheric. There were some dressing-up clothes which our kids loved and made the Victorian experience all the more authentic!

There is a well-priced cafe and a little shop which included some old original books.

Parking is available outside (limited on busier days), it was £2.50 for 3hrs and you can use the paybyphone app or website if you don't have change for the machine.

Came with an elderly friend visiting the area from Scotland.
She was extremely impressed with the exhibitions, building and general friendly welcome.
We arrived not long after it opened so easily found parking at the front.
Cafe was great, bright and reasonably priced. My friend couldn't praise the museum highly enough ????

Been coming here as a child and I still love it here. Lark hill place is great, children can dress up and walk around the street with more things for them to interact with. You can buy mystery bags for a donation which is great to get kids interested in art. Also in the art gallery there are more activities for kids. It will be great once the cafe re-opens.

The counterwoman was so nice and helpful who helped me to book the visit by asking for my email address. The Lark Hill Place is fantastic showing the people’s life in 19th century.

Great cafe reasonable prices lovely staff and Victorian street good day out for family really worth a visit. Also a short walk around the back is a beautiful park great for walk by the river or to visit walk round and let the children play in really well structured play area. Very clean lots of flower beds clear views all around fabulous day out. Parking can be an issue as not lots of spaces and it’s pay and display nowhere to park outside of the area.

Great traditional museum with stunning galleries, great ethical shop and lovely cafe. Highly recommend especially for the victoriana street and sweet shop.
