Gurkha Museum is so interesting and inspiring. Rifles and Horse Power with the audio visual diorama depicting Battle of Waterloo is a definite must. So much history.
Two other interesting visits to the Howard's and Adjutant General museums are very interesting. The location is so beautiful, with free parking and a café on site.
Supported and staffed by wonderful Volunteers. Thank you so much.

Very interesting....there are 6 museums here but only managed to visit 2 this time as so much to see. You can buy a single ticket for £11 which allows you to visit all 6 rather than paying individually and the good thing is it lasts a year so you don't have to rush round them all you can go another time.

Extremely impressed with the museums. Very informative and clean, there is such a lot to learn.
Toilet on site and a cafe.
We will certainly recommend these places.

I walked into this place by accident whilst touring Winchester. And boy was it a surprise the greenery at the back is an absolute gem which I didn't expect to see. In terms of the actual museum it's reasonably priced and surprisingly big even in the exhibits which seem small from the outside. (Mainly pointing at the Horsepower exhibit with that comment) Very informative experience and I would go again.

I decided to make a trip to Winchester on the 4th September 2018. Winchester is a city and the county town of Hampshire, England. It is situated about 61 miles south west of London and around 13 from Southampton which is its closest city. Winchester developed from the Roman town of Venta Belgarum. The city is, home to the University of Winchester and Winchester College, the oldest public school in the United Kingdom still using its original buildings. There is so much to see here in this fine city and spending a day here you would find it difficult to cover all the famous sites. I then walked up to the Winchester’s Military Quarter which is situated in the impressive preserved Victorian barracks next to the Great Hall. There are six museums to explore, each one with stunning collections of medals, beautiful paintings, gorgeous uniforms, fascinating archive film and poignant personal souvenirs. Together they tell the story of British soldiers in peace and in war, at home and abroad, in the last 300 years. There is something to interest all ages, and all members of the family: you can hear the stories of the Battle of Waterloo and of the Charge of the Light Brigade, experience the culture of Nepal, and discover when women first joined the Army. You can also find out how the Hampshire Tigers got their name, and what it takes to be a modern Rifleman.
Winchester’s Military Museums is a grouping of six military museums situated within yards of each other on an historic site close to the city centre of Winchester and adjacent to the Great Hall. The six museums are:
Horse Power, the Regimental Museum of The King’s Royal Hussars
The Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum
The Royal Green Jackets Museum
The Rifles Museum
The Gurkha Museum
The Guardroom Museum, the Museum of the Adjutant-General’s Corps
Each museum is separately run and well worth a visit in its own right. A visit to Winchester’s Military Museums, however, provides an opportunity to visit all of them and enjoy an interesting day out.
Additionally, there is a Visitor’s Centre with refreshments available at the on-site cafe Copper Joe’s.

Lots to see and read. There are free museums as well. It will take a large portion of the afternoon to complete the museums depending on how many u visit.

Lovely place to visit definitely recommend it to family and friends visiting the area but items very expensive
