A pretty boring tour, a minibus basically takes you to the tunnel, and then you all you do is go to a viewing platform to see some metal cylinders. I wanted to see more and also more information from the guides. This tour has the potential to be great, but at the moment, it’s not the best.

Both interesting and informative. Great minibus ride into the mountain to see the turbines. The guide, Mark, gave a clear explanation of every thing and seemed technically spot on. Highly recommended. The cafe was also a delight.

Fantastic.. very interesting.. tour was short but the guides explained everything in great detail and answered whatever questions where fired at them. The cafe had a good range of food and beverages so well worth the visit so.. come along guys.. enjoy x

Fantastic tour of the 1.1km drive through the mountain to the hydro generation plant. Excellent guide takes you through the history of this fully operational station. Good food in the cafe serving local produce. Also a good selection of souvenirs although I wax disappointed that there were no t shirts on sale. Well worth a visit especially if you are engineered minded!

A great time. Yes, the tour could be longer for the price - and should be - but it is nice to see and the people at the facility are very knowledgeable and were happy to discuss power related topics.

No bags or photography is allowed on the tour but lockers are offered if you don't want to leave your things in your car.

Visitor center is informative and the 30min tour excellent, the cafe fare is good and the coffee delicious...

So why 3 stars... There is no access to the dam. You have to walk to it, either via a (very) steep woodland path, or over 5 miles (each way) from Loch Awe Village. Beware, very little parking in the village, and if you inadvertently pass over a cattle grid in a vehicle, you're chased off the hillside by Draconian ranger staff from DRAX threatening legal action and towing of your parked vehicle - maybe that's where DRAX gets its name from???

The tour could easily incorporate a vehicular transport to the top of the dam for viewing for a couple of quid more, yet instead they expect you to walk the 7 mile round trip from the village - that's great unless you're in a wheelchair or motability impaired.

DRAX must try harder to support it's visitors... I'll NOT be recommending this place to my friends and family

Great visitors centre and the tour into the mountain is well worth the money. If your motorcyclists like we were they will put your gear in a locked room to make the tour more comfortable. Guide was funny and informative. Food available too and is good.

Very interesting. Well worth visiting. Staff are great and friendly. Lovely cafe. Lovely gifts plus silver gifts hand made by local silversmith. Glad to have visited.
