What an amazing experience I had! I am visiting from wales, I was seen very quickly by a number of different medics, who were reassuring and kind! It was marvellous to see the interaction between staff and more difficult patients, and then I was offered a cup of tea! Wow 10 out of 10 for great service and great outcome thank you! X

12 hours of hell. Uncomfortable disjointed waiting room that looks make shift and feels temporary like it’s been set up during a crisis. Not one working vending machine. Overall lack of ‘management’ and staff running to and thro like headless chickens. It simply needs to be streamlined and run more efficiently just like a proper business or service provider would be. After passing out 6 hours in to my wait…and still not being seen till a further 6 hours later, eventually the procedure I needed took place in what looked like an empty storage cupboard with an old bed thrown in there. Total and utter disgrace from start to finish.

I had to cough to get the receptionist's attention to check in.
Apart from a brief triage assessment in an empty Paediatrics ward we had to wait over 3 hours to be seen by the doctor. The excuse was that there was only one doctor on duty and that a more urgent case had come in. Realistically, if that had been the case as soon as the urgent patient had been stabilised they could have seen other patients. If you work in any other industry you are expected to multi-task. Don't expect me to believe the doctor was detained by that other patient's bedside all the time we were waiting. In fact I observed him sat at his desk most of that time. When we were eventually seen it only took a few minutes. Absolutely no excuse why we couldn't have been attended to earlier. The only staff member I was impressed with was the cleaner as she made me a cup of tea.

The worst care of duty I've ever experienced... A&E and evening hours your process is for checking in patients is terrible. 5 hrs and we didn't even see the A&E doctor as he kept disappereaing. You don't care anymore totally gone down hill. There were 15 ambulances waiting in the carpark to go in A&E on the way out for the car. We left as it was a JOKE. Sort it out Southend Hospital!! I would give minus stars if possible.

Left me (19) to wait over 2 hours with a gaping hole in my head, blood all over myself. Other patients even commented to the staff about how bad it was. I had to clean myself in the dirty toilets and eventually decided to leave as nothing was being done and the bleeding wouldn’t stop yet they saw this as perfectly fine. Absolutely vile staff.

After five and a half hours this morning i have been released with nothing found! , they seem to go round and round in circles sending you to people who don't understand english! . The trauma surgeon Mister Khan when i finally got to see him was marvellous! and so was the triage nurse Greg Keane, who without his help , i'm sure I would be waiting another five and a half hours .

Disgusting place and vile treatment from receptionists. One of my experiences I told them I needed my husband with me as my translator as I am deaf. I can hear the bare minimum. He said no he can’t be here with you, when I said okay fine but it’s going to be a struggle, he then went and said ‘well you heard that perfectly fine then didn’t you’ look at my records as everything to do with my hearing has been dealt with by their own ENT and audiology departments. I hope this guy doesn’t continue belittling patients.

Another experience I had, I’d taken an overdose and was left sitting in and out of consciousness for hours whilst the drunks and people with cut knees were seen first. I was shaking and turning blue but the lady on the door just stared as I had to sit in the toilets constantly throwing up. Then in triage the nurse was so rude when telling she wants me to explain what happened but I was so badly throwing up I couldn’t talk and she was losing her patience. The pandemic has been a struggle I understand that but there’s no excuse to treat people like dirt and it doesn’t make you an more superior.

Sitting and waiting for hours with no indication for how long we expect to queue.
At least if there were any screen indicating how long one expects to wait.
