What a great day out for singles ,couples or families. We went on the 40's weekend and it was a lovely experience and a happy atmosphere . Plenty to see and do.
The fish and chips were yummy too.
Definitely make it a must do during your spare time one day. Especially when a themed event is on . ????

We attended the 1940s event on Saturday evening and my sister and I absolutely loved it.
We've never visited the museum before and we were both excited for the 1940's event.
The staff were amazing, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
The atmosphere was fabulous and it was lovely to see so many people dressed up.
We loved it and will be back.... and as Dame Vera Lynn said..."we'll meet again"

My husband and I drove almost to hour to visit but it was worth it! I love visiting old town museums and this one was outstanding. Once you step inside you really feel like you traveled back in time. The little village is beautiful and realistic. I like the fact that you can enter inside the shops and houses. It makes it more interactive and it feels so real. The staff is very kind and friendly. They are good at playing their characters. We stayed for 5 hours but we took our time. I would just like to add more informations about the bus ride would be nice as we found it hard to figure it out. Other than that everything was perfect! I can’t wait to come back to see the new 60s village. Looks amazing!

I spent most of my day here. It was a really enjoyable afternoon. It’s a really impressive place. It’s fun for all ages and I will be back again. The Canal trip is really good. The Fish and Chips are really good as well.

This is a really interesting place to visit with lots to see and visit, the staff are excellent and put everything into historical context. The place is well maintained with distinct period streets and areas.
The cafes, chip shops and pubs are well run and there is a good selection of places and things to eat and drink.
There is a good deal of walking involved to see the whole place, but on the day we visited there was a bus service that ran round the site giving tired feet and legs a rest.
There are lots of school visits so sometimes shops and houses can be crowded and difficult to access, just go to another place for 10 mins or so and the kids will have moved on and you have access.
There is a canal section that is really interesting, but taken as a whole this is a really good place to while away a day and also learn a lot about the area, its industry and its people.
Toilets are clean, but sometimes of the period, there is plenty of paid parking.

Fantastic museum from 1890's up until 1940's. The Cole mine is brilliant. We had a great guide. Lucy.
With great knowledge and friendly vibe.
Even get free entry within 12 months.

A great day out for all the family. Lots to see and do, plenty of volunteers on hand to help with all your questions. There are even a couple of pubs to have a pint in. We didn't know it, but it was a 1940s themed day when we visited, and all the girls and guys looked amazing. And of course, one of the biggest pluses is that you pay once and get entry all year.

First time for ages. Went to see the new row of shops and pub. Had the famous fish and chips for lunch and a pint of bitter at the Bottle and Glass to follow. Sat in the park with an ever changing kaleidoscope of school parties for amusement.
A great day.
Don't forget, ticket once purchased, you can enter on any standard day for a year ????????
