Love the woodlands area for walks and cycle but castle it self is just few remaining walls hidden behind supporting metal construction and overgrown bushes. All is separated with high metal fence. Safety first I guess.

Beautiful walk, fantastic area. Unfortunately it was a wet day, but not much could be done about that. Such a shame the castle is all covered in vines.

Castle is mainly an overgrown ruin covered with undergrowth. That won't hold you back if you have a good imagination. The rest of Chaletherault estate is worth it. Some nice bridges.

Unfortunately there's not a lot to see here. The ruins are completely fenced off, and locked to the public. You can see some aspects of the site from behind the fence, but you don't really get a good look at anything interesting. Historic Environment Scotland do seem to be carrying out some repair works, evident from the scaffolding surrounding most of the structures, however this only seems to be to prevent further damage rather than restoration. Hopefully this site will be restored and opened to the public again some day, as there aren't many 16th century castles remaining in Scotland.

There isn't much to see at the castle, just a ruin propped up with scaffolding. It would be nice to see it restored. The surrounding foot paths of the Chatelherault park are worth a visit, great for a dog walk and very picturesque in good weather.

I was disappointed, I didn't know what to expect, from the google satellite images it seemed like it was at least maintained. But as you can see from my photos it is overgrown, fenced off, abandoned scaffolding and sadly really nothing to see at the moment.

Hopefully Historic Scotland will do more with this site in the future, but it looks long abandoned by them.

Dukes bridge is worth a look as it is literally beside it.

You cant get close to the castle as much of it is in a derelict state but you go past it on one of the lovely walks in the park. It would be nice if more was opened but i guess it would take a significant amount of money to make it safe.
