not trustable at all and playing gently to make you feel that the other party is right but when you double down on the law it says exactly what you were thinking. Bad experience !

Tried and tried to get near them but the ground was too boggy/marshy, water was up to my ankles too dangerous to carry on my own will go back and attempt again in Summer.
I entered as if going to Meikle Bin and took the road way west after the bridge across the river.
If anyone could tell me a better route I would appreciate it.

Came mid June just possible to get here in sandals but still surprisingly boggy; have to navigate last 200m by dead reckoning through conifer forest… make sure someone, as well as you, knows where you are, if you get lost or stuck it will take a long time to find you!

Having got here, stones are nice (but not spectacular, unfortunately all lines of sight are hidden by forestry.)

Lovely walk back is downhill to River Carron and across/along downstream back to forestry track at bridge - not for faint-hearted, no path and difficult in places. Best in wellies! Picked up 3 ticks so also don’t try if you worry about Lyme disease….!

I visited these stones after a visit to Meikle Bin. It’s a very interesting find if you like this sort of thing. These stones are on Google maps and after downloading the map ( zero reception here), the location was spot on.

2 Standing stones in the middle of the forest also known as the Waterhead Stones. Depending on the level of tree growth, felling etc, they can be very tricky to find. I would recommend taking a compass for navigation just in case you get disorientated. The majority of the journey to the stones is via a standard pathway like the rest of the Carron Valley trails. You reach the end of the route and you then need to navigate along a couple of tree breaks to get to the stones. The stones are positioned in a clearing and are well worth the journey if monoliths are of interest to you.
