An unusual village war memorial in an unusual setting, tucked away almost out of site, set back from the road in a bend in on the way into the viaage from the M54 (J3), in what is almost a grotto of rock and trees.

Worth finding a place to park and walking across to see.

There is carpark a few hundred yards down the lane opposite, Donington Road. The carpark is to the right, just beyond the church. Take the gate from the carpark into the churchyard to find the impressive Imperial War Graves area.

These are largely RAF graves, RAF Cosford is a mile or so away. War graves far from home are always moving, and deserve a visit in their own right. Perhaps particularly moving in this secluded corner of an English churchyard are the stones marking those who came to serve from far overseas, and have stayed.
