Found this ruin on our walk around the Stanstead estate.
It could give the feeling of a fairytale and very romantic. However the people destroyed it's area. Rubbish around everywhere, broken glasses, burnt fireworks can be all found.

It looks better on my pic than the actual atmosphere because of the leftover dump.

It an amazing experience to explore and find this peace of art jewellery inside the forest. It's a great pitty that is going to be ruined and worn out.

It’s a cool place to visit, but cycling there was a bone shaking experience as it’s on a rough, wildly undulating bridleway!

Very interesting, not sure exactly what it was for. Be careful as there’s broken glass and rubbish everywhere because people keep using it for other purposes than to just look. Found a bunch of empty cans and bottles laying around.

Please if you’re there, pick up the rubbish and watch out for the glass, it’s so small if you try to climb up anything you will get it in your hands.

It’s really not safe because of the way people keep dumping stuff in it.

This 80 foot tall folly trully spectacular building was built in 1772 by the Earl of Halifax and officially called the Racton Monument.
It is located in
Chichester District, West Sussex.
Precise location: Stoughton, Chichester PO18 9DU.

According to history, this Grade II listed building was designed by architect Theodosius Keene, son of Henry Keene. Some sources suggest that it has been called Stansted Castle.

Since 1987, the property is privately owned by accredited architect Mark Talbot.
According to Country Life (magazine), "it has seen illegal raves, ghost hunts, occultists and graffiti, and was, reputedly, a 19th-century brothel". Local lore suggests "spectral sightings [that] include flying bricks, faces in windows and a ghost tractor that drives up behind you, then disappears".

Well, we haven't noticed any ghost while been there, only lots of rubbish and broken glass. So, dog owners be careful if you want to visit this place with dogs.
For parents coming there with young kids, do not let them to climb on this brick structure!

We were flying there with our drone and took really great shots and done the video. So, if you like air filming or taking pictures, it is very good place for it and I will recommend it!

Interesting ruins with great views. 10 minute walk up a gentle incline. Officially private property but there is a well worn path leading to it.

Lots to say, (UPDATE 4th July 2021 i tracked down the planning application and it was rejected and the appeal dismissed, It would have been an amazing place. 7 floors high. See image of proposed elevation).

firstly.. ignore any sat navigation or Google map instruction to drive up Monument Lane, it's a gates bridle path, car access is not possible. Park at the end and you have a 8/9 minute walk up the lane, watch out for bikes and horse riders (and horse muck)

Secondly ... it is in a dangerous state, of dis-repair and covered in graffiti, some not bad art work.

And Thirdly... there is a planning application to convert it to a private dwelling( see image of notice) so expect the ruin to be off limits soon.

Yea was good to see interesting even tho it was a summer house for a rich Earl to watch the ships down in the harbour , unfortunately you can’t get to the top but there is a banksy looking pic inside although we see no ghosts or ghost tractors
