Traditional statue commemorating when Queen Bess came to town. Serves no real purpose today but to collect the droppings from the birds that use it for a perch. Nonetheless it's a finely detailed statue & has aged well, having been on-site since 1904

Happy memories of meeting Gran by the seaside. Last picture of her at the age of 98 taken by the statue in October 2019.

I have got a Greyhound, and we both love to do this walk, beautiful view Across the Sea and the sand is lovely and Shady love walking there we both do. lovely Beach.

Actually I went to the Pavilion Cafe on the promenade, Dovercourt ( near to the queen's statue.) First class cakes etc. Lovely friendly cheerful staff.

Nice views along Dovercourt beach, across to Walton and of the shipping movements in Harwich and Felixstowe docks. Free street parking, usually with spaces. Steps and slopes down to promenade. Some nice sandy/gravel/mixed beaches separated by breakwaters, rarely crowded. Various seats. Short walk to High St. As for the statue, I've never really looked at it in detail.

It's a statute. At the beach. Who can say anything but nice things about a statue at the beach??

Cliff top view of entrance to Harwich & Felistowe ports Lots of shipping (app for names and arrival times) and sail craft. Close to shops, pubs and a real bakery. Public toilets at shops and nearby park. Rock pooling and other beach activities below on safe beach. Occasionally a seal seen fishing; many birds an be spottedincluding a colony of Sparrows very near this point beach waders and rarer migrants. Good south view for stars & planets.

Fine tribute to a great queen. Goes back to the days when Dovercourt was a fashionable resort.
