This is my favourite castle to visit and to take my clients whilst out on tour, full of amazing history and a wee gem not many folk know about. Great wee castle.

Lovely welcome from the Earl and his good lady, a great place to visit due to its strong connections to the Jacobite uprisings. Only open a few days of the year to the public.

I was delighted to get the opportunity to visit this historic private castle. The castle has a number of open days throughout the year. You will find these open days via the castle website. I visited after 2pm which was the opening time the day I visited. The castle is situated near the village of Strathpeffer in the Highlands. I paid £10 for the tour and it lasted less than an hour as you only see certain rooms. As you would expect the castle has a very interesting history and it is also very much a family home. I thought the lady guide in the main room was excellent she knew the story. I was also well chuffed to meet the current owner who was very friendly and happy to answer questions. If you like your history and castles then you will love this place, well worth the effort. The ground was wet the day I visited so mind how you go it is not suitable for wheelchair users as there are steps.

Absolutely recommended to visit on your Scotland Travel! You eventually are welcomed by the Owner & Head of Clan Mackenzie himself - which is a marvelleous experience!

Fairytale castle ... wonderful to see.
Unfortunately it is only open to public a few weeks in a year, because the family Mackenzie still lives there. Last days for 2019: September-5,6,7,8,

The most interesting ancient castle I have ever been to. Seat of the MacKenzie Clan Beautiful rare ancient tree arboretum. Wonderful knowledgeable docents. We had a spectacular time. 10/10.

I enjoyed the castle immensely. The Earl lives there and loves to share the history. The other guides were also knowledgeable and very nice.
