Very scenic long canal. Popular with walkers, families, runners and cyclists. Plenty of free parking around to start your visit from. Can visit nearby places such 5 rise locks, Saltaire (heritage site village), Roberts Park, Apperley Bridge marina, Leeds etc. Great for a day out in the countryside. Take a torch if you intend to go later in the day. Lots of woodland sections.

Love a ride down the canal, Living in Wigan im right on the canal. I started in Liverpool and cycled to Wigan, the start is undergoing work so it was a bit tricky on a bike to get going. After that plain sailing with no stops. Inly one bit near scarisbrick I think was a bit messy but as it was a dry day the ride was great. I plan to do the whole lot in a day soon, Liverpool to Leeds. I have also cycled the manchester leg, around Astley/Tyldsley is lovely with lots of history. The whole canal is amazing with lots of sights

The Leeds Liverpool canal.. what can I say except.. simply astoundingly beautiful ????

Nice for dog walks or walk in general, can get a bit busy with cyclist, but the views are good
