Met 2 friends Tuesday night for dinner at Ernst Biergarten, It was my first visit and the first time I go to the 25 Hours Hotel in Dubai. I must say that the 2 things that left a very strong impression on me were, first the service. Our South African waitress from Pretoria deserves special recognition for her exceptional hospitality. She was not only friendly and hospitable but also she had a great sense of humor that added an extra touch of enjoyment to our dining experience. She told us that she will be going on vacation this Friday but will be returning in August. I'm already contemplating revisiting Ernst just to have the pleasure of her delightful service and share a laugh once again.
Now, let's talk about the food. To start, as a starter, I had the Gebackener Camembert 50AED (7/10). These fried camembert bites were served with a delectable cranberry sauce. While enjoyable, they were too thin to my liking and I had others who were more cheesy and softer.
Moving on to the main course, I got the Wiener Schnitzel priced at 120AED (7/10). The veal escalope is one of my most favorite dishes especially when it is served with spaghetti ???? It reminds me of my childhood, this is my go-to comfort food. The Ernst classic breaded veal escalope was accompanied by a warm potato-cucumber salad, cranberry sauce, and half a lemon. It was a satisfying dish after a lot of thinking, I realized that I prefer the Italian style of cooking the veal escalope over the German way. I don’t know the Italian escalope is always thicker, full of flavors, and darker in color. The German version is too bland for my liking. Having said that the veal was tender and well-prepared, and the potato salad side with pickled cucumber and onions complemented the flavors nicely, even though I removed the onions ????
Oh the second thing that really impressed me was the sink in the men’s toilet in the hotel’s corridor leading to Ernst ????
Overall, my experience at Ernst Biergarten was pleasant. The highlight was undoubtedly the amazing service provided by the entire staff. While the Camembert and Wiener Schnitzel were both tasty, they didn't quite reach the level of exceptionalism I was hoping for. Nevertheless, I would still consider revisiting Ernst in the future, especially when our friendly waitress returns from her vacation.
