Opened for the first time in Nairobi in the early 70s, Hashmi Barbecue Center Restaurant has been serving spectacular African-inspired South Asian cuisine to thousands - first in Nairobi and now for the last few years in Dubai.

I first ate at Hashmi in the early 2000s, during one of my monthly visits to Nairobi from Johannesburg. Back then, Hashmi was still based in the UK Centre in the Westlands, behind the Nakumatt store (before moving to its newer location in Nairobi).

Over the years, I have enjoyed numerous delicious meals at Hashmi. It has been an absolute pleasure reconnecting with Hashmi here in Dubai.

Serving Africa-inspired South Asian grilled meats, Hashmi is arguably one of the best, most innovative, and most unique eating spots in Dubai.

Some favorites to try:

1. Whole Chooza Chicken
2. Lamb Chops
3. Beef Mishkaki (courtesy of the Omani influence on Kenya/Tanzania)
4. Lemon Prawns

And finally, top it off with their inimitable kulfi as a dessert.

Last thing - the service is immaculate. The staff is attentive, courteous, and prompt, and the owners are always there to ensure your dining experience surpasses your expectations.

Great place to eat grilled meats in Dubai. They have brought 40 year’s of experience and taste from Nairobi to Dubai. Try there chooza chicken, prawns, grilled fish. If you’re a fan of fried chicken order poussin chicken. Have been to hashmi’s twice in last three day’s for dinner. Yesterday was another tastylicious meal by them.

A restaurant concept which originates from Nairobi …. Overall A very nice restaurant to try a different taste of Barbeque, menu very straight forward good portion sizes for the money, very good marination if meats, spicy - masala fries / chips are really good, service is very good & prompt, the owners them selfs are always around and this is what makes a lot of difference.

One of the best places in Dubai & in Nairobi, Kenya to have grilled chicken. I am yet to taste a better marinated & Grilled chicken then what Hashmi makes!
Best items - Chooza Chicken, seekh kebab, Masala chips, naan, egg chapati etc. Their tangerine & passion fruit juice is also worth trying.

Everything is very good. Taste is very good. Big area. Only giving 3 star due to late delivery which gave a very bad experience as we were waiting for food for long time. We went in group of 15 +

This is East African food from Kenya. Excellent barbecue with sauces. Must visit.

Must try these lamb chops. They are out of this world. Best I've ever had.
During Ramadan they gave free starters (somosas and salad) free tea unlimited. Free water. Thats what you call looking after the customers. Also owners goes round asking if everything is ok. I've been there 3 times since and food is always on point. Keep up the good work.

When you see the menu and the prices it doesn't seem to match, however the food is excellent, well cooked, seasoned beautifully and the beef we had was super tender.

The owner is super friendly, warm, offered us free samosas whilst we were waiting for our mains and made the whole experience 10 times better. Will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu!
