Managed to get a table without booking even though it was Bank Holiday Monday. Food was tasty plenty of choice. Whole staff team very attentive checking how our food was and if we needed anything else. Would dine here again a pleasant experience X

Slightly overpriced. Very busy, would recommend to book in advance. Service excellent. Table water offered and refilled. Food excellent. Fixtures and fittings need attention. Some light fittings were hanging loose. Unisex toilets, only two upstairs and one had a broken lock. No Bluelight or NHS discounts. Not in a rush to go back.

I was with a party of 24 for a meal upstairs (8pm) on a Sat evening. Although the pub was very busy downstairs, the service was excellent.

I had steak and ale pie, home cooked, chunky chips and mushy peas. Encased in lovely, shortcrust pastry, the meat was succulent and there was plenty of it, in a tasty gravy. I didn't have room for dessert, although they looked very tempting.

There were plenty of staff on hand, if you wanted to order more drinks at your table, and you paid for them immediately, on arrival.

We had already pre-ordered our choices (starter, main and dessert), and paid £5 deposit per person, so at the end of the evening paying was straight forward. A lady visited each table in turn with a copy of of our choices (by name) and you either paid by card or by cash.

A very enjoyable evening; good food and served by friendly, efficient staff.

Definitely go again!

I really enjoyed the food. We both had steak sandwiches and fries. Everything was delicious. I took off one star as I had not realised we were going to have to pay nearly £4 for water.. it should be made clear that it is chargeable from the outset. It did not taste any different from tap water and was not chilled as promised. Nevertheless we had a lovely lunch.

Busy mothering Sunday what could go wrong?
Absolutely nothing. Even after 5pm the food was excellent and the service was brilliant.
Have a look at the menu on their website. A vast selection of dishes. Not just regular pub fayre. A good range of prices too. There were 7 of us and they easily catered for us and we all really appreciated the food. Plus it was all beautifully presented
I noticed that the bar downstairs has a wide selection of ales. This place really caters for everyone.
The main eating area is upstairs but you can eat downstairs in the bar area if this is an issue.
Well worth a visit.

Came here a few yesrs ago. Lovely bar serving 9 real ales and one real cider. Had an excellent pint of Pride of Pendle. Lovely airy interior and we got the comfortable Chesterfield seating. Beer terrace to front facing the main road.

Top notch bar this, whether just popping in for drinks after a walk or a sit down meal, always a warm welcome, food absolutely superb and well priced, and then there's the ale!!! Guaranteed to be a tremendous selection every time you call in, lovely traditional pub with a modern edge to it, dog friendly and really great service and staff, outside area for those that fancy it, I highly recommend this pub.

I went to The Old Gate Bar & Restaurant over at Hendon Bridge for lunch with a friend. The staff were very friendly & showed us to our table. We didn’t have to book a table. They gave us a menu & we then ordered our meal & a drink each. Old Gate Bar & Restaurant is situated on the corner of a lane leading to a car park & The Halifax Road. You don’t have to book, just call in & tell them how many people you want a table for. Stephen Acton.
