The weather turned on us at Wasdale Water so we headed to The Sawmill to enjoy a dry break.
So many others had the same idea as this is a lovely cafe.
Well laid out with indoor, undercover and outdoor tables.
The Mill waterwheel was working so that was a bit of a talking point as was the glass panels in the floor over the stream.
I had a lovely ham sandwich with salad and crisps. Very tasty, good bread, lovely ham and a generous portion.
The staff were nice and friendly

Had a fantastic breakfast at The Sawmill Cafe. Sat out on the benches near to the stream and it was absolutely amazing. The staff were very helpful and brought everything outside to us down some tricky steps, so we’ll done to them. The food was quality all the way and a decent portion size. It is definitely a great place to stop off to refresh, refuel and reinvigorate the body and soul. Highly recommend everyone to go here and find out for themselves.

We only stopped in twice for refreshments while hiking in the area. I was impressed by what was there and what they had on offer. The architecture is cool, it all looks very modern and brand new. There is a café but we didn't get the chance to eat. They have a good selection of homemade, small business kind of stuff, like some very nice hot sauces. I bought a few and would go back just to buy more! There's also some awesome ice cream flavours on offer, including my favourite, Lotus Biscoff.

An excellent farm shop overall... Plenty of parking and dog friendly too. Worth a visit.

A lovely place to go for lunch! My friend and l's first ever visit there! We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the place and hope to return in warmer weather so that we can sit outside by the river!
The staff were polite,warm and friendly, the food was delicious and generous portions!! I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone in the area!

Lovely Cafe a short drive from the Wasdale Head car park for Scafell Pike.

Varied manu, with good vegetarian and vegan options.

Had lunch at the Sawmill - what a wonderful place. Gorgeous food, incredibly friendly staff and good service. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, and after lunch at the table we could sit on the sofas with a pot of tea. Happy days. Loved it and will be back soon. Oh, and on warmer days lovely veranda by the river.... Lovely gift shop stocking my faves (Pure Lakes) which was a bonus. Great for gifts and Christmas shopping.

What a great cafe, we enjoyed a lovely lunch besides the river. Food was excellent and value for money, all servers were helpful and welcoming. Altogether a fabulous experience, thoroughly recommended

Delicious food and large portions set in an idyllic location.
The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating- The outdoor seating is by water and the indoor is inside the spacious dining room. There is also a children’s corner and suitable baby changing facilities. Dog friendly indoor and out with a small shop located next to the cafe. Brilliant to see the mill wheel turning and the glass flooring which displays the water below. Worth a stop!
