A day out with a difference.
A great day out for anyone who likes history. Some great exhibits and very educational. Not too much for the kids, so not ideal if they tired or get bored easily. The castle is on a hill and some parts are quite steep. Most of the attraction has disabled access.
There are some amazing views of the surrounding area too.
There is a cafe which can get busy. The prices are not too bad for the mains, but the cakes are around £4 per slice. The hot food doesn't start until 12, so getting there early to beat the crowds doesn't really work.
The castle has its own ice cream van outside, and the ice cream tastes amazing.

Very busy, and with poor crowd control in places, and the cafe had literally nothing for those of us with dietary needs. Still, their loss was the gain of the much nicer lovely old town cafe just down the road.
Advertised outside at £15 a ticket but £19 I think it was at the ticket office. Just glad we could use our English heritage membership as that's a lot of cash for a family otherwise!
In terms of the castle, there were interesting things to see, with mostly interesting exhibitions. The kitchen was particularly interesting, and the gardens were nice. Great views from the top!

Like any castle, this one is also full of history and worth visiting. You can join a free tour around the castle and your guide will share a lot of information about the place and people connected to it. Our guide Joni was amazing, never seen a guide being so passionate and enthusiastic plus stayed outside while a rain was drizzling. Allow yourself about 2 hours there. Everyone there is very helpful and friendly.

Sterling Castle is well worth the visit. Free tour included in your ticket, lasting approximately 55 minutes. Nice gift shop and cafe on site. It was nice to be able to explore both the outside and inside. Neat set of rooms that are focused on kids (educational and interesting and interactive).
Booked online in parking lot to save £2, but did not book in advance. Website will tell you how many tickets are left for the time you wish to visit, which is likely important if it's weekend and/or July/August

Glad to be able to use our English Heritage membership for this great castle. The history is laid out beautifully for all and the number of different locations, displays and exhibits made it a great day out. And that was before descending into the town's other incredible buildings & architecture.

Stunning place. Lots of history and stunning views from the top as its so high up. A steep drive up to the castle and ample parking for £5. Signs guide you around the castle and the gardens through the summer are beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I had a great time at Stirling Castle: There are free guided tours every 30 minutes, and the tour I had (the guide's name was Joni I think) was the best one ever! So much knowledge presented with a lot of humour, fun facts and interesting stories.
Worth a visit!

We had a stop at Stirling Castle on our way from Edinburgh. Didn't have issues finding a parking space even when castle parking was full.
Great experience also for the Kids. A lot of things to explore and a really many very nice dressed up castle employees.
I do recommend to bring a bit of time, at least 2 hours, better 3 or even more.
