Poor quality on some fruit and vegetables.
Poor customer service, for example, staff reorganising shelves step in front of you whilst looking at items on the shelves, click and collect pickers think that they have got right way, and although there are a handful of good staff most are rude and need more training in customer service even if this is to remind them that we are the customer and should be treated as such.

I always use scan and go, but there wasn't many left and the shop wasn't that full. Mine decided to run out after I scanned my last product. So had to go to self serve and re scan them.

I left a bottle if spirit at the checkout and returned to the store a few days later to check if it had been handed in to customer services. The lady checked the book and advised it had. She asked me to go and get a replacement which I did. She then said she’d spoken to her manager who advised because Id said it was for my son, he had to come to collect it as he needed to show his I.D?? I told the lady I’d paid for it on my card and the receipt was mine. My son had just been with me at the time. She said as I’d said it was his bottle, he had to come to collect it. She said if I hadn’t mentioned it was his she could have give me the bottle.?? I then trailed my son down to the store where another lady told me to go and get a replacement. I told her I’d been asked to bring my sun with me. She said she didn’t know why. Not even an apology for a pointless return visit. Poor customer service!

Update: Just got in from shopping, with spoiled food. One of the brand new 20p bag I just bought split as I was lifting it into the taxi. It wasn't heavy, but it ripped from the top aright around the bag. This is becoming more common lately. I ran back in and asked customer service for a new bag and they sent me down the checkouts for a new one. I grabbed one and in front of the desk double bagged my shopping and the new bag instantly tore. I showed the lady on the desk and she looked at me as if I'd done something wrong. I explained I had a taxi waiting and needed another bag. She told me to go get another one. So I got another replacement, double bagged it while she read her magazine, and as soon as I lifted it it also tore.
I said dear me these bags are appalling lately. She gave me a withering look and walked off slowly to get another bag. For the third time she watched me struggling to double bag my shopping yet again, and finally I stood up and it did not tear.
As I walked away she was reading her magazine again. Not a single word to me the whole time except "Go get another bag."
Very rude woman, lacking a very basic courtesy.
When I finally got home the 2nd bag also split and some of my food was damaged. All in all an unsatisfying trip to Asda with a rude and uncaring woman who was the polar opposite of the bright and breezy, helpful lady on the self checkouts.
Strike 2 for Asda now, 1 more and I will go just a half mile further to Aldi in future.

I rated this a 2 mainly for the cafe and toilets. The rest of the shop is typical Asda.
I've breakfasted here a few times now. Staff are invariably bored and uncommunicative, I have to search to get clean cutlery, and the food is consistently average. Egg yolks are always solid and sausages.never cooked properly.
The whole counter area including cake stand is filthy. The entire eating area is old and worn. It's really not a great experience.
Save your toilet for another place too. They often stink and are dirtier than you'd expect.

I just love the fact it's open 24hrs on weekdays. Its a Super Store conveniently located opposite Hartlepool Marina and Navy Museum. A petrol station Asda is also located just by the side. ATMs are available from Barclays Bank. A cafe is open during day time. Fish Monger is not available after 9pm. Vehicle's parking to other high street shops are nearby and walkable distance from Asda Super Store. Overall it's a beautiful set up.

Went to the cafe for tea and toast, toast served on cardboard plates, brown toast was like cardboard also and had mould on it, took it back and was told it was a fresh loaf just opened, needless to say we left our tea and toast and left.
Won't be returning

Tried to self check out with a toddler asleep on my shoulder. The wonderful Margie jumped in to pack my bags for me. What an amazing woman! Made my trip so much easier, above and beyond!
