Great little spot for a country stroll through the woods and countryside. Redcastle unfortunately is not accessible due to being left to rot. It is surrounded by brambles and security fencing. Still a good photo opportunity from afar due to the landscape...

A lovely scenic walk along the coastal road leads to an entrance where the track cuts back and up taking you eventually to the castle ruin. Really nice circular route.

Red Castle ruin is close to visitation because of bad conservation and danger on site. It is possible to get a nice view from outside. The red colored stones are really nice.

I love this ruined castle, I was so pleased to see it had been all tidied up. It looks great despite being neglected. To find this castle you need to visit North Kessock and take the single track road past Charlestown. Then about three miles further on you will find a good lay by. The day I visited wellies were required as it was wet and muddy. Once I had visited the ruin I came back the same route to avoid the main road.

Long coastal walk on the road (beware of traffic coming from both directions along single track) before turning up the path into the forest track. Oak, Birch and many other trees line the path to the castle. The area is very active agricultural land, but that doesn't detract from its beauty.
The castle was left to nature for several decades, work recently started to clear the area. The castle is in complete ruins and should not be entered at all. A wonderful 3 or so hours spent one afternoon ????

Another amazing castle ruin! What history must lie in these walls! It would be amazing to see this restored and be able to explore in the building but seeing it and exploring the grounds was lovely! Redcastle as a place is such a gem in itself!

Was a magnificent castle back in the day, such a shame it went to ruins, but still a beautifulk site and a must see

Share the same sentiment as other reviewers - it's sad that the castle was left to become ruins but they're actively working on improving the gardens (which does mean you can't get beyond walking up to the front of the castle). Parking is by the river with space for 4-5 cars and picnic benches.
