Nice ambience with good food.

Starting with soup served in traditional bread is great.

Cold mix maze is a good starter. Chicken Potatoes is really really tasty.

Having Shisha with Moroccan tea is great! ????

Really interested place to visit, with amazing views on the drive over there.
It's very sad about the history of the place, but well worth a visit.
Plus, the other great thing is it's free to wander around, too... which nowadays is virtually unheard of!

Well I’d never heard of Tyneham village until my cousin who lives close by took me there on 25/6/23. It’s a sad story really how these villagers were given their marching orders and then promised they could go back after the war . It’s a must you should visit Tyneham village if your in the area . There’s the old school with lots of original items inside . I found that very interesting indeed . The village church is absolutely stunning inside and out . The countryside surrounding the village is breathtaking. There’s a large car park and all the ask is for a small donation of £2 to park and visit the village . Refreshments and snacks were available at our time of visiting in the field to the right of the main carpark . Also if your into going for a hike this is the perfect place to start . A word of warning the road to Tyneham village is very narrow with sharp bends . There’s not many passing places , but if you drive steady you should be fine .

A hidden piece of history in the purbecks Hills just outside Wareham.
The place itself is very informative. With so much history. Great place for photography.

It could benefit from a little landscaping. Sad to see it all overgrown. The last time I visited it was kept much neater.

The portable toilets are in desperate need of replacing, the smell, and lack of hygiene in them was unacceptable.

Really interesting place if you're interested in fairly recent history. You feel so sorry for all the people forced to leave their homes. Free entry with donations for car parking. Nice walks from here too. Beautiful location.
Toilets were of the portable kind though and not very nice.

I found out about this hidden gem at the hostel I stayed in Swanage. It’s in the middle of nowhere. Extremely narrow road but with beautiful views.
As it’s located within the Firing range area of the Army, always check the opening times during the weekend for the Lulworth Ranges and Tyneham village opening in advance.
I visited on Monday, 29 April, Bank Holiday. They were open from 09 to 20h (the gate shuts). The church, school and farm shuts at 16h.
They ask for a donation of 2 pounds per car to be placed in a little green box just by the first sign to your left as you enter the parking lot. I have posted a picture of it.
They offer those horrible chemical toilets booths. No further structure is offered, so be prepared with plenty of water and food.
I arrived after 14h and a lot of people were already leaving but the village was still crowded.
Take your time to explore the ghost village, enter the houses ruins, the church and the school.
Plenty of interesting stories to read with pictures of the people that once lived here and sadly have left their houses to never return due to the war. So sad.
It’s a time capsule, specially the school. What a pleasant surprise!
Also, great walks within the grounds. An easy and flat 15-20 min walk takes you to the beautiful beach at the Worbarrow Bay. Totally worth it!
From there you can continue exploring steep walks along the coast in many directions along the beach.
This was one of the highlights of my trip to Dorset.

Amazing piece of history frozen in time. Well worth a visit. Free entrance however they do ask for a donation of at least £2.00. To be honest I donated well over this as felt its well worth it and all donations go towards the upkeep.
Check in line before you visit as certain weekends there is no access if military training is in progress.

Had a fantastic time visiting this village today. It was pouring with rain but didn't stop us from looking around and taking shelter in the church. Beautiful history and beautiful village.

Grew up on a farm so very interesting to see Tyneham village.
Lots of gear I could remember from the 1960s still on the farm I grew up on.
